Westport House, Westport Reviews
Excellent campsite. Can book ahead which is a bonus if you are arriving late. Great extremely clean facilities. Safe. Lots of entertainment for kids. My lads thoroughly enjoyed the freedom. Beside Westport Town which is just fabulous!! Seems to be a genuinely friendly place.
We camped for 3 nights. The site was perfect. Free showers, great washing up area. Loads of space. The reception area is open 9 to 9 which is great. Westport house itself was amazing to visit with lots of interesting rooms. Also on site is pirates adventure, a bar, restaurant and gift shop. Great place to visit.
Warm and welcoming. Staff friendly and competent. Great 20m pool , sauna steam room. Exercise equipment. Walking distance from town. Great boutique shops nearby. Lidl 5 min walk.
The third time we've been to westport house over the last 6 years. It sadly isn't what it used to be. The campsite facilities are very much in need of repair and updating, especially considering it is one of the most expensive camp sites in Ireland. The place seems to have lost its charm and character and is falling fast in to a state of disrepair. Broken swans and rides were just sitting in public areas. The toilets and showers were dirty. The staff were good, particularly the security guard and a member of the team named Rory who helped after another camper caused problems. Not all the rides were on and it just didn't fell worth the money. It used to be the best camp site in Ireland, but sadly not any more. I don't think we'll be back :(
My family and I visited here today. We had an absolutely fantastic time. It is kept in fantastic condition. Westport House itself is amazing. It is genuinely the best open access historic mansion I have visited to date, and I've been to plenty as I find history and old architecture a hobby. The staff are brilliant, and there is an app you should download prior to visiting as it gives you a walk tour. The staff there are also very nice and well informed. I had a few questions that would have been hard to answer if they staff weren't anything but very knowledgeable and passionate about the house itself and they answered all the questions with ease and detail. For the kids, the pirate adventure section they loved. As did we. They really enjoyed themselves. A side note on the train conducter/driver. He is truly a credit to the park. He was an absolute gentleman. He even allowed my son to sit up in the drivers seat, press a few buttons and have his pictures taken. I can't thank him enough for that, as my son has had a hard few years and anything got to do with trains really just makes him happy, but to do that for him and us was something we will never forget. So small of a gesture but he doesn't know the joy it brought us. We will be back in the area for Halloween, and will certainly visit this place again. Thank you guys so much for such a great day.
