Experience how a blacksmith, wheelwright and cooper used to function back in the old days with the help of workshops and displays. There is also an exhibition that showcases the devastating effects of ‘The Great Famine’. Of course, there is also a lot of information about the Johnston Castle and estate. All the displays from Irish country furniture to farmhouse kitchens makes you feel like you have entered a traditional Irish home from decades ago. The gardens by themselves are absolutely splendid for a picnic and wandering. There are gushing waterfalls, statues and over 200 varieties of trees to keep you company.

  • I love returning to Johnstown Castle to see the grounds at different times of year. The Museum itself houses a lovely cafe which has great home made produce.

  • Lovely scenery. Had a great time. Cafe is lovely too, highly enjoyable.

  • Irish Agricultural and Johnstown Castle are both wonderful places to visit. Particularly, a walk around the castle and it's magnificent lawns and pathways.
