Peak 2 Peak Gondola Whistler, Whistler Reviews
The trip up the main gondola was incredible. It took about 20 minutes but was relaxing - sadly we didn't see any bears below but I'm sure you could. Anyway, we got up to the peak to peak at exactly nine but it didn't open until quarter past eventually. The cars to take you across were a lot bigger than the main cars on the gondola up, and you went across with about another ten people. The ride was nice, there were some very pretty views on the way over. We were also greeted on arrival by some friendly marmots! There are some lovely walks to go on but I went on the shortest, the alpine loop, which took us to some pretty viewpoints and nice photo opportunities. I recommend this trip to anyone in the area but have a few recommendations first. Don't wait for the glass bottomed cars to come. They are different every day but you don't see much more anyway, you get just as good views in a normal car you don't have to wait for, and leave early to go up. It gets very busy later in the day with bikers and other people going to have things like picnics up the mountains, so leave early for the main gondola and head straight to the peak to peak for the least busy experience. I hope this review was useful and gave you some ideas of what to do whilst in the area.
We were only in Whistler for one day and had bought online tickets for peak to peak, but that morning there was a sign that due to unexpected reasons peak to peak was closed that day. Better safe than sorry, but we were pretty bummed. We toyed with the idea of going to Squamish for the sea to sky gondola being that it got great reviews, however we were already in Whistler and decided to go up, even though it's the same price with or without peak to peak. Boy were we glad we did! It's absolutely breathtaking up there and the kids got to play with a patch of snow! The gondola up the mountain is peaceful and pleasant. Then we took the chairlift to the highest point where we walked the suspension bridge and got unbelievable 360° views of snow peaked mountains. This is a must even without peak to peak. We'll just have to come back :)
Staff is so nice. I'm terrified of heights, and each staff member I spoke to was friendly and helpful. Beautiful ride on the gondola and I was able to wait until I found a couple of people I was comfortable with to ride. Restaurants on both sides of the gondola ride. Good food. Some fast food and sit down meals. Bar outside on the far end with a beautiful view.
Catch the whistler gondola up and then change to this one to go peak to peak. It’s got amazing views and each cage fits about 28 people. 2 if the gondolas have small glass bottoms which is interesting (be prepared to wait if you want to go on this one). Great value of $60 for all gondola tickets and the Suspension Bridge.
I live here. This is one of the most awesomeness aspects of living in Whistler 12 months a year. The Peak to Peak allows mountain top access to both mountains, great views! Friday. Saturday and Sundays join me at the Umbrella bar for sunsets. The best bar in Whistler in late summer nights!
