The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception marks the history of catholic presence in Wichita. In 1820, French people came to Wichita and made this town their home. Over time many missionaries visited the town too and in 1834, a humble log church was built here to serve the people. This church was replaced by a brick structure in 1857 and this building was renamed in the order of Immaculate Conception in 1877. The current building dates back to early 20th century.
Designed in Renaissance Revival style by Emmanuel Louis Masqueray, the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception has become one of the most iconic buildings in the city. The Bedfrod stone used for its construction, bronze doors designed by Domus Dei of Italy and the central dome that is 41 meters tall along with the beautiful stained-glass windows and the grand columns, all combine to make this place timeless. The layout of the church is quiet unique with a statue of Jesus on the cross placed centrally on a raised platform with seating arrangements on the periphery. The rich interiors are sure to take your breath and with the vintage lanterns, gorgeous paintings seen all around the cathedral walls and dome celling and the regal main altarpiece, a visit here will live you speechless for sure.

Cathedral Of The Immaculate Conception Reviews & Ratings
The Catholic Church came to the Wichita area early on. This church has the look of old style cathedral, it has been updated in the last few years mostly inside. New pews and lots of painted details of pictures and alters. Take note of the large heavy doors as you enter the front doors, they are huge but swing with ease. Open most all of the time.
Great place to worship and learn more about God . The Priests are great.
Good feeling and nice people ,my opinion people ain't snobby the people are friendly and very nice and loving wonderful place to bring your family and worship God ,and plus we ain't suppose to worry about how the people treat us you supposed to go to church to worship God and serve God and love people and because you love God and thankful and grateful to God and our Lord and savior Jesus Christ for forgiven our sins and cause we love being his children Not to have praise from people
Beautiful cathedral! I loved it!
The mother church of the Diocese of Wichita. The interior was completely restored several years ago and looks absolutely beautiful. They added a gathering space to the east side of the church and connected it to the old Cathedral High School which has also been renovated. Beautiful facilities. The have a history wall in the gathering space, very cool to see where and when it all start here in Wichita, and all the past Bishops bio's.
