The Louise C. Murdock Theatre dates back to 1931. It was acquired by the Wichita Film Festival Inc. in 2004 after which it was refurbished to have Dolby surround sound while still maintaining its original frescoes, grand balcony, art deco chandeliers and old shutter windows. Today, the venue is used to host film festivals and live music concerts and theatre performances.
The theatre also live broadcasts the Metropolitan Opera series which is a popular event not just in the city but all around the world. The historic feel of the theatre is what makes it truly stand out from the masses of modern structures seen in the region and if you love art, the place promises a wholesome experience with quality and entertainment.

Murdock Theater Reviews & Ratings
A beautiful place for all occasions.
Great place and a smallish venue. They play the Met opera broadcasts in town. Always cool to watch them
This has the potential of being a really great theatre. The type of films they offer are worthwhile. I love it that the Metropolitan Opera is being broadcast live and can be seen at the Murdock. BUT - the seats are the most uncomfortable of any venue in Wichita. They are too old, too narrow and too hard. The rows are too close together. I had to find a straight back chair and sit in the aisle.
Very interesting choice of independent and foreign movies. New seats are great!
I thought it was a beautiful venue. Great job!
