The Wichita Community Theatre started from a humble volunteer theatre in 1927 known then as “The Little theatre of Wichita”. During the World War, the theatre like other community places took a back seat. However in 1946, it was revived by Mary Jane Teall and today, it forms an important place for performing art in the city. The place is run by the arts council of Wichita that wants to replenish and promote the cultural arts of Wichita.
Currently, the theatre can seat 4000 people and has 8 show every season with a standard ticket price. The production of the theatre is professional and the sheer choice of plays adapted by the theatre, is why people come here to see classic plays. Plays like “12 Angry Men”, “And Miss Reardon Drinks a little”, “Silent Sky”, “A Dogs Life” and “Reading the Obits” make the place an interesting find for theatre lovers who admire variety. Do catch a live performance here when you visit the city.
