Known as one of the significant bird infested water bodies, the Fen Drayton Lakes spanning around 267 acres comprise of four small lakes that were formed from gravel pits and exhausted sand. Around 190 bird species including native and migratory as well as a plethora of wildlife boom here. The reserve remains open all over the year, however, it goes under the flood water during monsoon and hence, it is not the best time to visit. Great Crested Grebe, Muted Swan, Redshank, Sedge Warbler in Spring, Common Tern, Cuckoo, Hobby, Whitethroat in Summer, Blackcap, lapwing, Snipe, Wigeon in Autumn and Black-headed Gull, Goldeneye, Rook and Starling in winter are the highlights. Wildlife photographers and nature lovers will love this pristine place for the rooks, jackdaws, swans, geese and more.
