  • We came as out of staters looking for a southern charm restaurant and found it. The building is beautiful and inviting from the porch to the decor. The gift shop and antiques are a must see. The owner Dan was friendly and checked on us to see how everything was going. The employees especially the servers were expedient, attentive and sweet. The food was good. A great touch of authenticity.

  • Great breakfast and lunch. Always order a slice of the homemade pies. I had apple crumble pie hot from the oven. The best chicken and dumplings. Everything is delicious.

  • A unique experience for old southern Virginia food. The Miss Melinda Special is the classic dish. Comes with iced tea, an interesting fruit salad of half peach, a pineapple slice, cheese, and mayo, Brunswick stew, ham and biscuit sandwich, and a pie slice. The stew and sandwich was very tasty. I had the buttermilk pie. Pretty good. Could have used a slight dusting of powder sugar.

  • Nice enough place with a great charming feel. The food was all right but not as much of a wow factor as other reviewers seemed to indicate. We had a very attentive server who was a lot of fun. The price/quality ratio wasn't great, but the experience was good. Also, the restaurant's store was very enjoyable to browse through. I believe my wife and sister both bought some interesting stuff there.
