Winchester castle is one of the largest church of England that attracts great attention and inspires awe. This cathedral is known for its nave which is the longest in Europe. Dedicated to Holy Trinity, Saint Peter, Saint Paul and Saint Swithun, this cathedral is one of the finest examples of Gothic architecture in Europe. Founded in 642, this cathedral is known to house mortuary chests containing the remains of Saxon kings such as King Eadwig of England. The famous English novelist Jane Austen was also buried in the Winchester cathedral.

  • A great place to visit. Anthony Gormley figure in the crypt. Amazing stained glass window {do some research and find out about its history, me say nothing}. Lots of important dead people around the place {Jane Austin}. Enjoy the place and take your time.

  • Very pleasant and quite an impressive cathedral. Worth a visit. No parking at the cathedral so use one of the multi storey car parks in the city centre (it's less than a 10 minute walk away). Alternatively, use one of the park and rides.

  • Really nice Christmas market, but still nowhere near the style of our close European Markets, where they don't use garden sheds lined up like beach huts. I sometimes wonder where the lack of inspiration lies.

  • A beautiful historic building a guided tour is included in the cost of the entrance fee of £8.50. The guide was very knowledgeable. The tomb of Jane Austin was the main reason for my visit. The lady's chapel is well worth a look as it's beautiful

  • Historical buildings, lovely trees spreading round the Christmas Market Square, delicious food from different parts of Europe, and the many artistic displays in the various chalets. Can't wait to attend the unique one and only blessed Christmas worship service being held in the Winchester Cathedral..magical and heavenly...a service not to be missed. Friends are traveling from overseas to attend the service after hearing our previous experience there.
