In a town filled with attractions that are basically clones of each other, it's nice to find something this unique. This is a 'mining' company and you are the 'miner'. You get to choose a bucket from various bucket price range, and depending on your choice you are led over to a particular patch of earth and mud. The guides will show you how to 'pan' the mud and reveal - real precious stones. Kids usually freak out at this point and cant get enough. It's not rare to find emeralds and sapphires and rubies and amethysts. Oh, and you get to keep what you mind. If you ask, for a fee, they will cut and polish your mined gemstone and set it into jewellery for you. They'll even mail it to your address if you're in a hurry.

Dells Mining Co. Reviews & Ratings
This is a unique experience that my two boys loved doing. They offer a sifting experience that has you selecting one of 5 bucket prices $15 up to I believe it was $130. We took the blue bucket priced at $60. It was guaranteed the have a cut and polished gem in it (it had a garnet that we were told was a 3 karat) and contains a number of small to medium rough gems and precious stones. We went through the bucket and found a decent amount of stones. We were then taken to the back area where they sorted everything out and explained what we had found. After that we were given a sales pitch to have all the found rough stones cut and polished at varying amounts of money and offered different options for our cut and polished garnet to be set. We passed on any of those options and bagged our collection up and headed out. It was educational and a fun experience that we may do again one day.
My 7yr old grandson loves rocks so this activity was made for him. He had fun panning for gems and was excited with what he ended up finding. The owner, Kelli, is what made me give this five stars. She was kind and patient with my grandson (we found out they share a birthday) and was helpful and friendly without making us feel pressured to spend money. We did end up purchasing some beautiful things from their shop. Would recommend this to any parent or grandparent who has a child who loves collecting rocks. We, in fact, promised grandson he could mine for treasures one more time before leaving Wisconsin Dells.
At 1st we really liked it and with having found the largest gemstones in consecutive days we were promised t be on their website but low and behold stones of much smaller size made the site leading us to believe that this place is just a scan!! Gems don't even value out at ANYWHERE near close to the cost of what they tell you. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!!!
Such a rip off. Paid for better buckets to find they put the good gem in a baggie. Took all the fun out of looking for it. After mining, they kept trying to sell you more at ridiculous prices. Save your money, don't go here.
Cute place. Overpriced but kids had fun doing it. Fun to learn about the gems they found. Very nice staff
