Gaylord State Forest Area Reviews & Ratings
I loved this State Forest. I hiked almost all the trails and it was beautiful. The trails were very clean and great signage to know where you are on the trails. There are stations setup with information about what you can see in that spot and I enjoyed reading about all the trees. There were nature sights, smells and sounds all around me.
Beautiful forested area. Saw Sturgeon River Pigeon River and Little Pigeon River. Kayakers on the Sturgeon which flows at a pretty good clip. Not for beginners in this particular section. Also viewed mother deer and her youngster. Too early in evening to see any elk. Well maintained scenic stopping areas.
On our way back to Tennessee from the UP of Michigan, my fiancee and I stopped at many places along our way to see sights and get some air. This particular park was very interesting and had to s of facts about the logging industry and the CCC. Being from Tennessee the trails and trees were very different to me and it was nice to take a calm wall among the gentle giants.
This was a very good place to go out and explore. My husband and I had a great time....listening to many birds chirping. Cool and so relaxing if you are a nature lover. It was totally awesome!!
Beautiful area! Loved all the trails, wildlife and nature at its best.
