Built somewhere during 233 A.D the Yellow Crane Tower is the stuff of legend. The tower was destroyed and rebuilt 7 times. Initially built as a military watch tower during the reign of Sun Quan, its military purpose was forgotten and with time it became a scenic spot. The floors contain paintings and poems written in praise of the monument by many artists and poets. The top floor offers a panoramic view of the city and also overlooks the majestic Yangtze River. The roof is covered with 100,000 yellow glazed tiles that shine and dazzle in the day. Designated as 5A scenic spot by the CNTA the Tower is a must visit.

  • I was led here in mid March 2017 as the place was made famous by an introductory line of a famous poem I was and am not particularly fond of traditional tower architecture particular when it was under renovation. Anyhow, it was nice that I was once here and I do not think I would come here again!

  • A must-go place of Wuhan. The ticket is a little bit expensive. Parks nearby is free. Students with ID card can get a discount. The view of Tower is great, especially after you climb to the top of the tower, where you can have a whole view of the downtown city and the Yangtze river..

  • Even though this tower was rebuild in 1980s, the history of it can trace back to thousand years before. Try to go there in a sunny day, you can have a great view of Yangtze river and city. Night time is good too but due to the park close time, you cant see it....... There is a stature of Yue Fei at east end of the park, really good place to go. Also, there is a cave for the deity Lü Dongbin underneath of the tower foundation. Well, it is in the hill that underneath of the tower. He was the person that fly away with yellow crane in the folklore.

  • Very cool place. Beautifully Reserved piece of history.

  • Reconstructed last in the mid 1980s. Nice views from the top. Go for a walk up into the park, and get away from the bustle of the main attraction. You can listen for the river and hear the cars stream on the bridge.
