Yellow Crane Tower - Review

Built somewhere during 233 A.D the Yellow Crane Tower is the stuff of legend. The tower was destroyed and rebuilt 7 times. Initially built as a military watch tower during the reign of Sun Quan, its military purpose was forgotten and with time it became a scenic spot. The floors contain paintings and poems written in praise of the monument by many artists and poets. The top floor offers a panoramic view of the city and also overlooks the majestic Yangtze River. The roof is covered with 100,000 yellow glazed tiles that shine and dazzle in the day. Designated as 5A scenic spot by the CNTA the Tower is a must visit.

Yellow Crane Tower, Wuhan Reviews

  • Definitely worth the entrance fee... you can almost spend a whole day exploring these beautiful grounds. The staff here are extremely friendly and helpful.

  • The Yellow Crane Tower was amazing to see. The tower is magnificent and it's filled with art from the floor to the ceiling. The climb up the stairs to the top is a bit taxing, but the view of Yellow Crane Tower park, the Yangtze River, and the city of Wuhan makes it worth every step. The park surrounding the tower is beautiful. The information boards include an English translation, so you can read about the historical site as you explore the park. In addition to the Yellow Crane Tower, the park includes a beautiful pond with gorgeous pink and yellow Water Lillies (and amazingly clear water), several statues, and a Bell Tower. The Bell Tower is also visible from the top of Yellow Crane Tower. Entrance to the Yellow Crane Tower and surrounding park was 70 Renminbi (about $10.50) - a small price to pay to visit such a beautiful place.

  • An incredibly well done reconstruction for the tower. The murals are lovely and the climb is worth the view from the top so make sure you go all the way up. The surrounding park is worth walking through as well, it's very complementary to the tower.

  • On a hot day it feels like a long way to the top of the crane tower. The surrounding park has a lot of places to rest. But it is a little expensive to visit.

  • Top tourist attraction in Wuhan. Maybe THE top. There's a lot of historical and poetic significance associated with the building, which is cool. You also get some sweet views of the Yangtze River and the city from the upper levels.
