It takes about 1 hour to drive there from city. Nice scene, waterfall is not so big. You can pay around 220 Taiwan dollar to get in a cable car which has transparent bottom for some part. Short trip but quite good experience.
Discovered this place from a guide book. Took a train ride out and happily spent the day I awe of the grounds and trails. Very beautifully. As with all my experiences in Free China I wish I would have brought my camera. However I can still picture its uniqueness.
Beautiful location. We rode on a mini train to get here, with the station being located near the old street. The waterfall is beautiful and there's also a visitor centre which doubles as a museum. A great place to learn about Wulai's history. I'd definitely recommend visiting and seeing this one for yourself.
Awesome, beautiful and semi-remote destination in New Taipei City, maybe about 2 hours outside of Taipei by public transport and bus. You can Uber here, but the price is much higher, although much faster. There is a walking street with great street food (the sausages are famous there). Get off the bus, walk down the Main Street trying all the delicious food. Continue down and on the right there is a footbridge across the river. Cross it. Continue up some wooden stairs and find a very small passenger train (so small, even if you can call it a train). Pay the small fee, I think it was 50NT, to ride it to the falls. If you’d like to walk, you can also walk up the asphalt road about a kilometer or two. I happened to go on a somewhat rainy day and it was still beautiful. Almost totally empty of tourists. I think usually you can take a gondola up above the falls, but when I was there, it was out of service for renovation. If you have half a day and want to get away from the hectic center of Taipei, Wulai is the perfect spot for you.
After you get off the bus at Wulai bus station, you walk to the market then cross the river and walk for 15-20 minutes, you will see this waterfalls. At this spot, there are restaurants and shops you can grab some refreshments. It is crowded here as it is a famous attraction in Wulai.
