Gulangyu Island, Xiamen Reviews - Write a Review

  • This island gets overwhelmed with tourists on a daily basis, but if you let yourself get lost and wander, it's a fantastic place to spend a day. Take side paths and try to avoid the crowds. If you can, avoid going on the weekend, and maybe even plan to spend a weeknight on the island for a much more chill evening, as most of the tourists will leave. It's certainly worth the trip - this small island is filled with wonderful architecture that merges Eastern and Western styles, and winding lanes that always end in surprises.

  • Nice little island. Walking only. Has lots of Chinese history in early last century.

  • Have visited it a few times. Had a wonderful feeling each time. It is worth a visit.

  • This is worth a visit!! Not 1 car on the whole island. Also great view form the top Sunlight Rock. Lot's of tour groups through.

  • The island is certainly attractive but the daily invasion of huge tour groups negates any pleasure you may get from your visit.
