Also famous as the Great Cave, this majestic beauty lies in the same complex as that of the magnificent Kaba Aye Pagoda. A replica of Satta Panni cave in India which is believed to be the place where first Buddhist Synod was convened, the Mahapasana Cave is an interesting place to visit, owing to the sanity that surrounds it.
As you walk in near the cave, you’ll be mesmerised with its grand 6 six entrances that symbolize the Sixth Great Synod- The Buddhist councils of Theravada Buddhism.
With an impressive length of 139 meters and width of 110 metres, the cave awes. The assembly hall which is 67 meter long and 43 meter wide is particularly peculiar.
Built to commemorate 2500-year anniversary of Buddha’s enlightenment, this place is a must-visit!
