  • We stayed with our family of 6 in a camper at Madison campground in Yellowstone National Park. Our experience was not great. First off, even after many phone conversations, the employees failed to share that all RV sites do not have electricity and water hookups & restrictions on generators. When we arrived, we were told we could not use our generator for our stay. So we camped without electricity for 3 days. I found it really interesting that the rangers & employees felt free to drive through our campsites (sometimes more than one vehicle at a time) with their large trucks/vehicles which were much louder than our generator and by far more disrupting. The employees were not overly knowledgeable & many were not friendly. Service was slow. We were pulled over by a park ranger for speeding. He did not give us a ticket but was very snarky & rude. We loved all the attractions and natural beauty of Yellowstone. We would love to visit the park again. We will, however, not stay inside the park again - camping or otherwise. We will not recommend staying inside Yellowstone to our friends and family either. The customer service at Yellowstone was poor for this park being such a famous attraction in the US. Overall, Yellowstone needs to up its training of staff and rangers so they are able to provide better customer service for individuals and families who want to enjoy the sights of Yellowstone.

  • Great location, we were tucked away from road noise. Camp site was not overly small. Very strict rules to keep bears away but I assume all campgrounds in Yellowstone have the same rules. Nice flush toilet bathrooms. No showers but we went into town and showered at Canyon. Laundry mat.

  • The location here is absolutely outstanding. I'm sure most campsites have a beautiful background and great scenery around it and this was no exception. I didn't even realize it until the second day when I started walking around that there was a huge lake behind the camp within walking distance. it took like less than 5 minutes to walk to and it was a beautiful scene that I made sure I woke up early one morning to go capture the sunrise on it. As far as animals here I never saw anything bigger than a small squirrel. There were plenty of birds flying around the lake probably swallows and there were plenty of Canadian geese along its riverbanks. On animals though, I never saw anything bigger. But it was still a beautiful location. my only complaints would have been about the hookups. But I'm not sure any campsite in Yellowstone has full hookups unless you pay out the wazoo for it. We had to dump our water and filled up our water and create our own electricity while we stayed here. Just a heads up if you plan to use the RV here you're going to have to hike to the front to dump your water as its way out in the front of the campground. We also have solar panels but I want to use full as there are trees all over the campsite. overall though if you're looking for a place to stay this was a great location and we never had any issues.

  • It was great. Beautiful spot by the river and the nightly ranger talks in the ampitheater were informative. We looked forward to them each night. Restrooms clean, staff friendly and helpful. Jim, from the Madison store was great. Helpful, funny and great at selling us more!

  • Campground is pretty and well maintained. The staff is friendly. I came in August and it was full so there were more people around than I generally appreciate, but due to the spacing of the sites it was not an issue. Sites including fire pits and bear boxes are convenient and well built.
