A visit to the Mammoth Hot Springs will leave you feeling like you have stepped on Mars! Having a very interesting terrain and unusual landscape, Mammoth Hot Springs is a complex of hot springs and is situated on a hill of travertine in Yellowstone National Park. The rock structures are impressive and the hot steam rising from the ground is intriguing. Exploring the region is a little difficult though- there is a staircase to get to the top. On the top there is a wooden walkway. With the altitude and the hot steam, it takes efforts to move around.

  • These terraces are amazing! And each can grow by as much as 6' a year. The boardwalks allow great, close-up access to admire the beauty. The upper terraces drive is a good way to visit if walking a lot won't work for you. The elk down by the hotel we're also great to see.

  • Mammoth is a fairly easy hike across boardwalks and some dirt sections. There are two portions, one which loops down into the town that may be a little tough due to steep paths and stairs up. And another that is more accessible but does not cover as much ground. As an added bonus, the area around Mammoth has some of the best wireless reception in the park

  • Very cool to see this area. Would be nice if they built a wooden platform a little higher off the ground so you could get a better view BUT...still worth walking through this area and don't miss sitting in the Boiling River...it's just around the corner

  • Stunning place. Easily accessible, plenty of parking. Boardwalk everywhere, hence hike is easy, very easy. I saw a herd of elk sop by and I know other animals frequent this place too. People should hold on to their hats, avoid polluting these nature wonders

  • This is just magical place. There is no words to explain. It’s another planet. I never seen and doubt I will see even something similar to this ever.
