Very cool place to stop. Its next to a trail head that goes to a beautiful hidden lake. Also while your in the area the one way gravel road to the west is a great way to see wildlife.
It's awesome that they preserved this incredible piece of natural history. To see a real redwood in the midst of Yellowstone is simply amazing. The walk is short, easy, and pretty. Totally worth it to read about the natural history and the efforts to preserve the tree before it was entirely destroyed.
Not often you will see a standing petrified tree. The process needed to create petrified wood is fascinating.
The TREE was AMAZING BUT THE HIGHLIGHT IS WHEN WE SAW A MAMA BEAR AND HER 2 BABIES!!!!
Wow didn't know this was here. Geocaching takes you to wonderful places
