Yellowstone Lake, Yellowstone National Park Reviews

  • It's a huge lake and is frozen during the winter season. It truly looks like glass early morning when the wind speed is virtually zero. Looks so unreal and is really huge. Some quick facts about this lake: Max. length: 20 mi (32 km) Max. width: 15 mi (24 km) Surface area: 136 sq mi (350 km2) Average depth: 139 ft (42 m) Max. depth: 390 ft (120 m) Shore length: 110 mi (180 km) Surface elevation: 7,732 ft (2,357 m)

  • Calm lake great for kayaking to see fumerals, thermal features, and local wildlife. Dock, gravel shore and dock all available.

  • A beautiful, surprisingly large lake. Great place to put in a kayak and get away from the crowds.

  • Large lake in Yellowstone park. Water can be quite choppy with high winds. Lots of wildlife to see around the lake. Very nice hotel located right on the lake with great views, restraunt, and deli. Gift shop for all your Yellowstone paraphernalia needs.

  • A huge lake with a great view. Last time when I went there it was raining. And right after the rain there were loads of bugs/mosquitoes around the lake. At times it was getting hard to just stand at the edge and enjoy the view. Otherwise it's a nice place to chill while you are on your way to Grand Teton from the north of the park and Lamar Valley.
