If history and heritage happen to enthral you, then you must visit Philipse Manor Hall State Historic Site. Located in the Getty Square neighborhood in Yonkers, New York, this manor house and museum was built in 1682, when the Soldiers' and Sailors' Monument was dedicated on the grounds of Philipse Manor Hall SHS, also known as the Yonkers City Hall, in the memories of the Yonkers soldiers of the Civil War. Originally the family seat of Philipse Manor, it is Westchester County’s oldest standing building. Over centuries, this museum has been offering a rich regional and international heritage. The Philipse Manor Hall State Historic Site is also famous for programming, and educational opportunities.

  • Nice place, staff was friendly. Very clean I wouldn't bring a small child here as they would probably be bored, as only paintings and signs to read inside. 12 year old + to learn history is recommended age.

  • Historic house in Yonkers. Get history. Friendly staff

  • Loved the information and bit of history it preserved. Good place to go for a lesson on how people lived back then.

  • This historic building is wiped clean of furnishings and, although mildly altered and updated, retains significant architectural elements of it's original structure. Well worth the $5 self-guided walk-through. Our host manning the entrance was wonderful.

  • One of the nicer things in yonkers, can't imagine why anyone would give it 1 star. The building is quite beautiful.
