In the heart of old town Zakopane is a wooden prayer building named Church of Our Lady of Czestochowa. This church was built in the 19th century and is commonly known as the old church. Most of the carpentry involved in making this building was done by Sebastian Gasienica -Sobczak. It was formerly known as St. Clement’s Church to honour its founder. Figures of saints and folk paintings done by local artists make up the interiors of the church. Its stunning architecture and crafty use of timber has led to it being included in the wooden architecture trail.
