The Grossglockner Hiking Trail, Zell Am See Reviews
This destination is a five star plus. It is a must do for anyone who rides a motorbike. It is a private road, did I say spectacular private road, that climbs up through many hairpins and sweeping turns to arrive at breathtaking views at the suitably named Bikers Point. The last charge I paid was eighteen Euros and it is worth every one. The views from the top are stunning, especially if you brave the cobbled road at the very top! The Hairy Bikers filmed one of their European trip cookery programs here and cooked a chocolate cake. We were coincidentally there at the time. Our charity group (The Boundary 500) already knew them both and watched with interest them repeat filming their trip up the road!! Please do not be put off by the looks. It is not difficult to ride if you take your time, the road is wide and well maintained. I would recommend however that you watch the weather as it can be overcast and you will see none of the views. Snow can persist throughout the year too. The rewards are a fantastic road, stunning views and great memories. If you go once you will return. When you arrive at the top there is a good eatery to replenish your energy. You can travel on over the top and make your way to Italy if you wish. Highly recommended.
Excellent winding roads with many bikers out enjoying it. We had a perfect day of sunshine and little wind. Went up to bikers point and took some photos. Then we headed down the otherside of the mountain and stopped in at this cafe which was lovely. I do recommend this for any bikers or photography lovers
It's the highest mountain of Austria and it offers amazing panoramic views on a clear day. It takes only one day to hike and climb there, thus it's accessible even with fit children. From there You can see Alps as you imagine: with snowy peaks at the top and lush green at the bottom of the hills
Absolutely amazing panoramic view for Austria highest mountain. Many wild marmots you will see:)
The Großglockner glacier is a must visit location for anyone who cares about this planet and is concerned about global warming. Visited the place in summer 2002 and got to actually walk on the ice. My second visit in 2018 was shocking as most of the glacier is gone. So sad. Still highly recommend visiting the place.
