The first national forest park of china spread over 50 square miles in nothing short of a heaven’s treat. Originally a state-run tree farm, the Zhangjiajie forest park is blessed with subtropical climate. This means it is warm in winters and cool in summers making it an ideal place to plan a picnic or short vacation.

It is one of the several national parks within the Wulingyuan scenic area and itself has five scenic areas- Huangshizhai, Golden Whip Stream, Yaozizhai, Yuanjiajie, and Yangjiajie. • Easy and nice hikes, no need to take cable cars or the elevator. I would recommend to spend at least three full days here to cover the whole area. It's crucial to start in the early morning to escape the tourist masses ;) If you decided to hike instead of taking the cable cars, you are mostly alone, but the main spots are pretty crowded. You can have equally good views just a bit of the track, so there is no point in waiting in line to get a picture from the spots which are close to the cable car stations. Orientation is easy, signs are everywhere

  • Fabulous magical place. Even in the rain it was stunning and well worth the visit. There is a lot of climbing up and down steps involved, many thousands, so be prepared!

  • At first, the park seems to be something completely different that you can image. At the entry to the park, there are crowds, a lot of organized tours, a lot of families, people with flags... your tickets are checked twice, your fingerprints are scanned everytime you enter the park. You can grab a free map of a park but it is really not a map... its a simple plan. Because it is not oriented, the scale is not real, the distances are not real, the travel time that is written over the road sometimes is a time required for a bus to travel that distance and sometimes by foot. After second ticket checking, there is a bus stop, one bus after another arrive, they go to different destinations, and there is a large chaotic line to those buses. You can take a bus to go to many different places in the park, most of them seem very crowded at first but after traveling a bit deeper on the path, like just 1km deep... there is no crowd anymore... and the place is simply stunning. Even the bad first impression did not ruin the experience for me. Another detail: the entry ticket is 3days minimum

  • Magnificent park with huge and tall rocks spread on all the parts of this park, Great looks with every rock so differently shaped and isolated from each other, this is a huge park covering more than 278k acres of land. Surrounded by the high spear shaped rocks and huge trees. These rocks with their naturally curved shapes and sizes are the main attraction of all the tourist. Visitors from many parts of the world come here to watch these rocks.

  • The film location of Avatar for Pandora is beautiful! The cable cars had gorgeous views and the glass bridge and walkways were breathtaking! Definitely must visit this place at least once in your life!
