Shang city is an archaeological site in Zhengzhou of remains from the Shang dynasty which was more than 3500 years old. Excavation made during the 50’s under archaeologist Han Weizhou led to the discovery of a submerged city in a rectangular form. Its perimeter was around 6960mts along with 11 gaps presumably that are its entrances. Later excavations gave way to palace area, water storage area, slave quarters and handiwork markets. Ruin of copper casting workshops was also discovered over 300 meters out of the north city wall. Since their discovery they have remained as national priority. They have also given rise to numerous studies of the ancient Shang civilization and the evolution of society in China.
