Itinerary
This is a typical itinerary for this product
Stop At: Capela dos Ossos, Praca 10 de Maio 4, Evora 7000-650 Portugal
The Chapel of Bones in vora, Portugal, is part of the larger Royal Church of St. Francis, and was constructed by Franciscan monks in the late 16th century. By the 16th century, there were as many as 43 cemeteries in and around vora that were taking up valuable land. Not wanting to condemn the souls of the people buried there, the monks decided to build the Chapel and relocate the bones.
Duration: 25 minutes
Stop At: Praca do Giraldo, Evora 7000-508 Portugal
In Evora, all streets lead to Giraldo Square, Praa do Giraldo in Portugue-se. It has been like this since its construction, in 1571/1573. This is where you will end up walking to. And where you will want to sit on a terrace and have a drink.
Giraldo Square is an icon paying tribute to Fearless Geraldo Geraldes, the man who conquered Evora from the Moors in 1167. To thank him King Afonso Henriques, the first king of Portugal, nominated him Governor of Evora (alcaide of Evora) and High Protector of the Borders of Alentejo, region which he would help to conquer.

Duration: 30 minutes
Stop At: Cathedral of Evora (Se Catedral de Evora), Largo do Marques de Marialva, Evora 7000-809 Portugal
You can see its silhouette from very far away, drawn up on the urban landscape. Known locally as S de vora, its real name is Baslica S de Nossa Senhora da Assuno (Basilica Cathedral of Our Lady of Assumption). It is the largest medieval cathedral in Portugal and has no match in the rest of the country. The Cathedral of Evora, built between 1186 and 1250, is a fascinating and impressive monumento, completely made of granite, its style is determined by the transition from the Romantic to the Gothic. It was improved during the 15th and 16th centuries. During this period several key parts were made: upper choir, baptistery and the arch of the Chapel of Our Lady of Pity. This chapel of Evora Cathedral is a unusual testimony of the hybrid Plateresque architecture.
Duration: 30 minutes
Stop At: Templo Romano de Evora (Templo de Diana), Largo do Conde de Vila Flor Dentro da Muralha, Evora 7000-804 Portugal
The Roman Temple of vora (in Portuguese: Templo romano de vora), also referred to as the Temple of Diana (albeit wrongly after Diana, the ancient Roman goddess of the moon, the hunt, and chastity) is an ancient temple in the Portuguese city of vora. The temple is part of the historical center of the city, which was included in the classification by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. It represents one of the most significant landmarks relating to the Roman and Lusitanian civilizations of vora and in Portuguese territory.
Duration: 30 minutes
Stop At: Aqueduto da gua de Prata, R. do Muro 8, 7000-592 vora, Portugal
Evora contains one of the Iberian Peninsula's greatest 16th century buil-ding projects, the Aqueduto da gua de Prata (the Evora aqueduct). The aqueduct provided clean drinking water to Evora by connecting the city to the nearest constant flowing river, 9km to the north.
The channeled water flowed through a complex set of structures that in-cluded long tunnels, deep valleys and most impressively, over massive stone aqueducts. This clever design meant that the water from the river could flow unassisted into the Praa do Giraldo, the main plaza of Evora.

Duration: 20 minutes
Stop At: University of Evora, Largo dos Colegiais 2, Evora 7004-516 Portugal
The University of vora (Universidade de vora) is a public univer-sity in vora, Portugal. It is the second oldest university in the country, esta-blished in 1559 by then cardinal Henry, and receiving University status in April of the same year from Pope Paul IV, as documented in his Cum a nobis papal bull. Running under the aegis of the Society of Jesus (also known as Jesuits) meant that the university was a target of the Marquis of Pombal's Jesuit oppression, being closed down permanently in 1779 and its masters either incarcerated or exiled.
It was reopened nearly two hundred years later in 1973 as Instituto Universitrio de vora (University Institute of vora) by decree of the Minister of Education, Jos Veiga Simo, in the site of the older university. as part of a set of education policies during the early 1970s that were attempting to reshape Portuguese higher education. Six years later, in 1979, the name was changed to Universidade de vora.
Duration: 30 minutes
Stop At: Convent of Santa Maria Scala Coeli (Convent of Cartuxa) (Evora), Quinta do Bacelo, Evora 7005-198 Portugal
The Cartuxa Monastery was built for the Carthusian Order between 1587 and 1598 by Archbishop Teotonio of the House of Bragana. Kings of the Bragana dynasty later financed embellishments for the church: in the 17th century Pedro II added a marble portico and facade to its exterior, and in the 18th century Joo V added a retable altar gilded in gold leaf. For this reason the church was declared a national monument in 1910.
