Day 1: Marrakesh - Zagora
After pickup from Marrakech at 7am, you will begin your journey crossing the High Atlas mountains through the Tizi n'tichka pass toward the beautiful village of Ait Benhaddou. Upon arrival at the site, enjoy the splendour of its historical castle which is built on a hill, overlooking the area.
From there, you will stop in Draa Valley well-known for its amazing Ksour and Kasbah before climbing to an altitude of over 3,800 feet (1160 meters) in the arid land of Ouarzazate city. Within the last portion of the drive connecting Ouarzazate with Zagora, you will admire the most beautiful valleys of Morocco and its beautiful villages filled with local handicraft shops.
In the past, the Oasis of Zagora was a caravan centre, the starting point of the great trans-Saharan convoys. Once there, you will enjoy a 1-hour camel ride from Zagora to reach the bivouac campsite. Along the way, you will be able to view the amazing panoramic sunset. At the camp, you will savour a traditional dinner under the starlit sky and retire to your tent to spend the night near the dunes of Zagora.
Day 2: Zagora - Marrakesh
In the early morning around 5am, you will wake to a beautiful sunrise over the sand dunes and enjoy a typical Berber breakfast offered at the camp. Once again, you will ridecamel for 1 hour going to Zagora. If time and weather permits, you will visit Tamegroute. It's only about 13 miles (20 kilometers) from Zagora on the old road to Timbuktu. The town is known for its historical library of the Koranic School of Zaouia Naciria and by the handicrafts cooperative of pottery.
Along the route to Marrakech, you will enjoy lunch in a local restaurant (at own expense) before making the circuit again through the Atlas mountains and through the Tizi n'Tichka pass.

Things we really enjoyed: the camel ride, the sunset, the night in the desert camp, the sunrise, and the camel ride back. The driver was very flexible with our breaks, punctual and kind. Things that could be improved: the driving time was quite a lot, particularly considering it was a 2 day trip (having said that, this was mentioned in the website before booking). Also, in one of the stops we visited a castle (where they also filmed the Gladiator movie): the local guide we got there was not very helpful.
This tour is well organized, and allows you to see all the highlights! We were so impressed of the camping site and the friendly staff. Really recommend this tour! Just be aware that it is a LONG drive there and back, but with plenty of stops for food, refreshments, and sightseeing along the way. Really pleased with the experience
The whole experience was wonderful. Great company in our group of 8 people, amazing to see the Atlas Mountains and the camel ride was lots of fun (if slightly bumpy).
Visit to Ksar Ait Ben Haddou, location for many famous films, staying overnight in the Berber camp, camel rides at dusk and down, company of new friends and helpful guides
My favourite part was watching the sun go down in the desert. The group we were with were amazing, and the camp was more than we had expected especially the food Our tour guides were very helpful and great fun and we will return at some date for the 3 days your. My only criticism would be the time stuck in the minibus to get to our destination
if you want a magical way to watch the sunset i the desert from a camel ; watch the sun rise from the desert dunes after star gazing the night before with many shooting stars; this is the trip for you We were a party of 7 ages ranging from 22- early 60's and it delighted all of us - 'gorgeous camel called Louisha'. 'Phenomonal life changing excursion to the depths of the human soul' invited to be part of the Berber family for the night The long journey each way was worth it to camp in the desert with the hospitable berbers. the camp was very comfortable and pretty We all enjoyed singing and drumming by the camp fire under the stars We were well looked after by Mohammed in the camp and Ibrahim the driver. An unforgettable trip !
Camels rides, sunset and sunrise . Good team work , good tent, toilets and showers, not very good breakfast.
I have traveled to tens of countries and this was the worst trip I have ever faced. The whole trip was basically about getting money from us and selling the things (like carpets) we don't want to buy at all. Pseudo-Berbers were local 17-years old drunk guys dressed up as Berbers. Once they realized I will not tip them they even became aggressive. Aggressivity was felt more times like in Ait Ben Haddou - the organized guides were more like the badly organized mafia. If you are kind of sheep don't think about what you get for your money it is going to be ok. But once you use your brain you immediately know that this trip is just about the meeting - selling actions, three times overprized restaurants with horrible food, and poorly bad theater in the desert. 17 hours on the bus is terrible too, but still the safest place on this trip. Sometimes I did not know if I should smile or cry...
Standard tourist tour, as expected and paid for. Good way to get a view and taste of the country outside of Marakkech and of the Atlas, a taste of camping in the desert and have a laugh with group members. Long drive, 7 hours each day. Downpoints: very few stops for foto’s, way too pushy tour guide at castle forcing you into an overcrowded restaurant (which we skipped to walk around a bit more), very hard beds at the camp. Overall value for the price you pay and s nice addition to our stay in Marrakech
All fantastic -the drive to zagora through mountains was spectacular - the landscape was so varied. Our driver was an extremely good considerate driver The camp was great - everyone very helpful and friendly - the camel rides were amazing - A memorable 2day experience More information from you about about general itinerary - appropriate clothing and back packs
