Know More about this tour

Day 1: Arequipa
An expert tour guide will pick you up from your hotel at 7:00am to take you to the Colca Canyon in a private van. Along the way you might spot some American Camelids, such as vicuas, alpacas and llamas and you will witness breathtaking landscapes as you drive, such as lakes, glaciers and magnificent volcanoes. Visit Cabanaconde, the largest town of the Colca Canyon. After an energetic lunch, start hiking down to the canyon.
After 3 to 4-hours of hiking a rocky path downhill, you'll make it to the village of San Juan de Chuccho, where a warm meal is waiting for you. You spend the night at a cozy local family house.

Day 2: Oasis - Cabanaconde
You may catch-up on some sleep in the morning, as your delicious pancakes breakfast will be ready at 8:00am. After breakfast, start your 3-hour trek to the oasis, passing through the local communities of Cosirhua and Malata. Your guide will explain how the local people of these mountain villages live. After visiting a local hospital, school and a museum, you will feel more integrated into the lives of the villagers. You'll also learn more about the different flora and fauna and how they're used in daily life of the local people.

Arrive at the oasis, the deepest spot of the Colca Canyon, at around noon. After a typical lunch, take the afternoon to relax at the swimming pool, enjoy the warm sun and the stunning views of the canyon. In the late afternoon, start the hardest part of the trek as you go to the top again. After a 3-hour climb, reach the top of the canyon and where you'll enjoy the beautiful sunset and the priceless view of the canyon. Making it to the top will be the most memorable part of the trek. If you're not up for the trek out of the canyon, there are mules available for hire.
In Cabanaconde, a warm hearty meal is waiting for you and you spend the night at a hostel with private baths and a hot shower.

Day 3: Cruz del Condor
After a hot shower in the morning and a typical breakfast, your driver and guide take you to the most spectacular place of the Colca Canyon, the Cruz del Condor Mirador. At 1,200 meters (approximately 4,000ft), it is the best place to spot the majestic Andean Condor flying over the canyon. The condor is the biggest flying bird on earth, with wingspans that can measure up to 10 feet.

Once you have taken some good photos of the condor, continue to Chivay. Along the way you'll make some stops at typical small villages of the Colca Canyon. In Chivay you can visit the hot springs to loosen your aching muscles. After a delicious buffet lunch of typical Peruvian food, you will travel back to Arequipa.
Arrive in Arequipa at approximately 6pm and be transferred to your hotel.

Option 2: If you want to go to Puno instead to Arequipa, take a tourist bus departing at 1:00pm from Chivay and arriving at 8:00pm in Puno.

We went on this trip not yet knowing what to expect, what this trip was amazing! Raoul is the best guide and he make you feel like real family. This trip went so much further than a regular trail. We created real friendship bonds and learned from each other’s cultures while experiencing beautiful nature. I will miss this experience so much and I recommend everybody to book a trail with ventura travel. Driver and families down the canyon were amazing. Please if you want to trek down the canyon instead 3am book your trip here they start at 7 am! Or else it won’t be the same. Amazing experience!

We decided to take the 3 days tour since we wanted to enjoyed and take it easy. It was worth every penny! Raul was easy to contact and very clear in the communication, we were a group of 3 and Christian, our guide, took care of us beyond I expected but making it fun and adventurous. We did amazing hikings combined with lovelies baths at the Oasis and the thermal pools. And we saw many condors! The food was excellent all the time and the driver was really professional. Thanks guys for this great time!

We did the 3 day Colca Canyon hike. Raul came to our hotel the day before to explain the itinerary to us and advise us on what to pack, which we really appreciated. The next day we were picked up from our hotel by our driver Armando and our guide Christian. Both were great. Christian was amazing - he knew everything about the local area, let us set the pace for the hiking, and was incredibly friendly and helpful throughout. The trek itself was great, the scenery was beautiful, the accommodation and food were really good, and we enjoyed the chance to relax in the pool at the bottom of the canyon and the next day in the hot springs. Would really highly recommend!

Some dude called us up 9am the day before our $700 3 day trip to Colca Canyon to inform us, that because trip advisor doesn’t pay them quickly enough ( ), they would be cancelling on us. This guys called directly to our hotel room and very creepily said that he would just in a cab that moment because he had to speak with us in person about something secret?! What?!? After pushing him on this a bit, he finally admitted that he had already cancelled our trip, and wanted to tell us is person... to soften the blow? Crazy. Stay away from these criminals. They ruined our time in Arequipa.

We did our trek with Christian and it was a wonderful experience. We learned a lot about the canyon, the inhabitants and the Peruvian culture in general. The trek is not too hard (18 km, the hardest part is the last day). We had time to relax and enjoy the swimming pool at the oasis and the view (and the hot spring last day). The trek is expensive but worth it. We were only the two of us so we could choose the rythme of the journey. We had a nice driver and a kind guide. We did not pay anything more except the drinks (water and others if wanted). It was all inclusive. Nice experience for us ! You should do it ! Anne and Andrea

It was very well organized and carried over tour. Our guide Remy was extremely friendly person with wonderful attitude to kids and very wide knowledge about the canyon but also broad knowledge about Inca and Quechua culture and heritage. It was really amazing time in real nature, the accomodation was really nice and cosy, although basic. Our children rated this trip highest among all trips and tours done during our almost 4 weeks round tour in Peru and Bolivia so you must have made really good impression on them :) Well done. Thank you very much Remy again for wonderful experience of Peru and Colca canyon !!!!

Review is for the 3 day trek. An authentic, local, well planned tour that combines a bit of hiking (nothing too hard in our opinion if you are generally fit) and leisure time. positive: + small group (we were actually only 2 plus 1 guide and 1 driver) + luxurious Toyota jeep + great selection of restaurants and lodge/accommodation (no big groups there) + Great food! + all expenses included (even park entrance fee, etcetc) negative: - nothing :o) - note: tour has its price, but definitely worth it! special thanks to Carlos, our tour guide. He is a funny guy, very knowledgeable and has a desire to make your trip an experience you’ll not forget :-)
