Day 1: Dublin - Connemara - Galway

Well depart Dublin this morning and make our way to the West of Ireland and beautiful Connemara. Well stop for refreshments in the midlands before arriving in the enchanting village of Cong. John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara filmed the Quiet Man here and the village is also home to Ashford Castle, a stunning resort which is frequently host to celebrity weddings and royal families on vacation. We have time to visit Cong Abbey before continuing our journey through the wilderness of Connemara. We enjoy the unique landscape, beautiful lakes, valleys and mountain scenery. This area is Gaelic speaking and still maintains many of Ireland's traditional ways, despite suffering massive depopulation during the Great Famine of 1845 - 1851. Arrive in Galway mid afternoon for time at leisure in this atmospheric city. We have time to explore the Spanish Arch and ramble down colourful Shop Street with its many street performers, seafood eateries and quaint Irish bars. Overnight in Galway.

Day 2: Galway - Cliffs of Moher - Dingle Peninsula

Today you will have the Atlantic Ocean by your side as we cruise down a portion of the Wild Atlantic Way. The coastal route is characterised by beautiful golden beaches and maybe even dolphins and whales breaching off the shore. Meanwhile, the limestone Burren region is a lunar landscape with unique features such as underground rivers and waterfalls dating back 300 million years. Todays highlight is the Cliffs of Moher, the most popular natural tourist destination in Ireland and easily most spectacular cliffs in Europe. Rising over 700 ft in height, the ciffs mark the edge of Europe are home to some of natures most majestic birds including puffins, gannets and many more. We'll cross the mighty River Shannon in County Limerick where Viking longboats once ruled the waves. Look forward to spending the night on the breathtaking Dingle Peninsula, in the heart of rural Ireland.

Day 3: Highlights of the Ring of Kerry - Killarney - Dublin

This morning we'll take in some highlights of the Ring of Kerry (which typically include Molls Gap, Leprechaun Crossing, Killarney National Park, Lakes of Killarney, Torc Waterfall) before enjoying time at leisure in Killarney. Many guests enjoy an (optional) horse and carriage or horse ride. The journey back to Dublin takes us on a leisurely drive through the heritage town of Adare with its fabulous thatched cottages and the Golden Vale, Ireland's finest agricultural land with its rolling fields and pastures. We return to Dublin by 19:00 approx.

  • This was my first time to Ireland. We decided to do the tour instead of renting a car. I have to say we made the right decision. From the moment we got on the bus I knew this was going to be a fantastic 3 days. Our tour guide Tiernan was the best!! We chose the backpacker choice and had no complaints. There were 4 of us and we were able to stay together in our own room in all hostels. I was traveling with my 72 year old mom and two adult daughters and the accommodations were spot on. I would highly recommend this tour. We covered many miles km and learned so much about the history of all the areas we visited. Can't wait to do the 9 day tour next!!

The best part of the tour was our guide Tiernan!

  • Alex was the best tour guide! We had an amazing tour group and all bonded on the first day. The accommodations were nice, we had the B and B options. All the rooms were clean, the breakfast was hot and good, and the rooms were quiet. The hostels options are in the city center while the B and Bs are typically a 10-15 minute walk. It was not a big deal and many people in the group would walk down to dinner together. Our group choose to eat dinners together which was a fun way to get to know each other. We were a diverse group of young and wise, singles and couples, and internationals. There were no kids on our tour, but I would recommend this tour for families. We covered a lot in 3 days, but it was not exhausting or overwhelming. We had just the right amount of time at each stop. Alex made our tour special, you would be lucky to get him as your guide. I made new friends on this tour which was more than I ever expected.

  • This tour was great, its a lot of hustle and hurrying. So no relaxing on this trip unless you wanna sleep on the coach. When I booked it I was able to do the hostel option with my kids, but when I got there I was told my kids couldnt stay at the hostel. Thank goodness everything got fixed quickly.

  • My trip was beautiful but was tainted by 3 horrible girls on the trip. Rory, our guide was wonderful and I tried to make the best of it, but it was very challenging with these young, entitled, unhappy girls for 3 days. I could not get away from them as they were surrounding me and there was no where else to go in the van. Would never do a small tour again if I can avoid it due to this.

  • It was an okay trip. If I could do it over I would drive myself, that way I could spend as much or as little time at each location as I would have liked. The hostels were adequate, but nothing special. The driver was sometimes funny, but he was often on his mobile talking or texting while driving.
