  • Tour was great.

  • This small group tour ended up being a private tour for just my mom and me! We had a great time with Mia, who was extremely knowledgeable about Roman history and shared loads of interesting facts and stories about the places she guided us through in Tratevere, Tiber Island, and the Ghetto: beautiful, historical, and fascinating and not overly crowded parts of the city. Our tour included an inside visit of the stunning Sta. Maria in Trastevere basilica, with absolutely amazing medieval mosaics over the altar. The gold in the Byazantine mosaics positively sparkled when illuminated, and Mia explained to us all of the different phases in the development of the church, from late Roman times through the Middle Ages right through the Renaissance, Baroque, and Neo-Classical periods. Typical of so many Roman sites, which were repeatedly added to, reconstructed, and remodeled over the ages. After leaving Trastevere we crossed two ancient Roman bridges two thousand years old? as we walked first across the Tiber Island with its own incredibly long history and then into the old Jewish Ghetto. Lots more to see and learn there, again very atmospheric and fascinating, but also sad with its connections to darker times in Roman history the confining of the Jews there by the Pope starting in the 16th century, and later the deportation to Auschwitz of a large part of Rome's Jewish community, a community that had roots there even before the birth of Christ. Our tour ended with an included visit to the Great Synagogue of Rome. Mia helped us go through security there and bought us our tickets but then said good-bye as outside guides are not allowed. We spent our final hour of the tour exploring the Jewish Museum inside the Synagogue and then going on an included tour of the Synagogue's amazing interior with a guide from the Synagogue staff. Highly recommend this tour for anyone with an interest in Roman history and a desire to get a little off the beaten tourist path. Grazie!

  • Our tour guide never showed up. Extremely disappointing as we were really looking forward to this tour, and the waiting around caused us to lose an afternoon of our vacation.

  • Roberto our tour guide was great, The historical importance of this area cannot be understated. Trastevere, the other side of the Tevere Tiber River, The Museo Ebraico, and the Tiberina Island tour was great.

  • Was a very informative tour and as there were only 4 of us our guide adapted the tour to suit our needs a spent more time at things that we were particularly interested in
    Thanks was great
