  • I highly recommend this three-part tour. It was one of the top highlights of our trip.
We had a wonderful driver, Gregory. He picked us up at our hotel exactly on time upon arrival at each destination, he escorted us to the entrance and he was always ready and easy to spot when we were done with a place. He even walked us down the trail to the waterfall. He was friendly and professional. I credit him with the day running as smoothly as it did.
The only small glitch we had was at the Jaguar Rescue Center where the gal selling tickets did not recognize our voucher. As instructed by Gregory, we told her we were with Gecko. She didn't know what that meant. She called the manager over who straightened it all out quickly.
The Jaguar Rescue Center is fantastic. We didn't actually see any jaguars, but you can't schedule certain animals to need rescuing. Be prepared for Sloth Heaven! Understandably, you cannot touch the animals, but you can be immersed into the sloth area where many sloths will climb, hang, and eat in front of and above you. Later we saw baby sloths napping on fleece blankets. Cuteness overload. We also saw monkeys, toucans, ocelots, lots of reptiles, and more. There were many visitors at the gate when we arrived, but we were efficiently broken up into smaller groups. Our tour was in English and limited to 16 people. We had an outstanding tour guide, Sarah from the UK, who educated us and entertained us with great stories. The Rescue Center could be a depressing place, but it's not. It's a place of hope.
Next we went to the Chocolate demonstration. There was one other couple there when we arrived but they finished up and we had the lovely host to ourselves. She's an entertaining and vivacious lady full of stories and facts about chocolate making and cultural practices of the Bribri. We loved her!
The last stop was the Waterfall. It's a short hike but a steep one coming back up. Gregory gave us walking sticks. There were some local kids and parents swimming when we arrived and they were very welcoming. They encouraged my teens to jump off the cliffs into the water with them. It wasn't crowded at all. The waterfall itself is powerful. You can get under it, but the current is strong. You won't need aqua socks or water shoes, but the rocks surrounding the swimming area can get slippery.
Overall, this is a great tour. It's an especially good choice if you want to see and do a lot in a short amount of time half day.

  • Hurricane Category 1 In Costa Rico on the day of our Excursion. We need to know how to get our ticket depositied back to us.. I have to rate to be able to post, so until I know how to get my moneyback, It's a 1. Since this link was sent to email, Viator should know who I am by my email Address.

  • The Jaguar rescue senter was a great experience. We had a really great guide which was such fun to listen to. The Hours went by so fast and it was fun seeing the animals and knowing that as soon as they are ready they will be set back in their natural habitat. A great experience. The chocolate making was also very interesting and the indian lady was very funny and just a big smile. She showed how she made chocolate and took us through the whole process. Beware when you visit to wear good shoes as they have a lot of ants which bite or burn really bad. The walk to the water falll was really something as we saw a Bushmaster which is extremly poisonous. After that the whole trip was just horror for me and I must say the waterfall wasn't much either. Very little and not very beautiful. Our guide was very nice and funny and after the walk to the waterfall we got coconut juice and pineapple and that was nice.
All in all we recommend this trip!
