Itinerary

Day 1: SAN CRISTOBAL FREE AFTERNOON

Stop At: El Puerto
Today you will arrive to the airport of San Cristobal, one of the Galapagos Islands. You will be picked up at the airport and transferred by private transport with an English speaking contact person to your hotel in the town Puerto Baquerizo Moreno. Here you will have a meet & greet with one of out staff members who will explain the rest of the itinerary to you. The rest of the afternoon is free to explore the town, or walk to the interpretation center, the beaches or Tijeretas.

Day 2: KICKER ROCK

Stop At: Kicker Rock, Puerto Baquerizo Moreno, San Cristobal, Galapagos Islands
Today you will have a day tour to Kicker Rock, with lunch and snorkeling equipment included. With a small boat you set for the lava formation in the middle of the ocean called Kicker Rock (or Len Dormido in Spanish as they say it looks like a sleeping sea lion). First you will circle around the rock formation to observe the difference bird species that use the rock formation as a resting or nesting place. Afterwards the boat will anchor and you will jump of the boat to snorkel the canal in between the rock formation. Beware that the currents can be strong and that you will be snorkeling in open waters without being able to see the bottom. Here you will be able to spot different shark species (sometimes even hammerheads!). turtles, rays, and more. In some seasons you might encounter jellyfish which can sting, however a wetsuit will be provided when this is the case. After snorkeling you will continue to Manglecito or a similar beach. This white coral beach offers the opportunity to walk around and relax and swim in shallow waters before returning to Puerto Baquerizo Moreno. You will have a box lunch on board.

Day 3: EL JUNCO PUERTO CHINO LA GALAPAGUERA

Stop At: Lagoon El Junco, San Cristobal, Galapagos Islands
Today you will have a half day tour to the highlands of San Cristobal. In about 30 minutes your driver brings you to your first stop: El Junco Crater Lake, the only freshwater lake on the Galapagos Islands.
Duration: 2 hours

Stop At: Puerto Chino Beach, San Cristobal, Galapagos Islands
Afterwards you continue driving to Puerto Chino, a beautiful white sanded beach (watch fo horseflies). Follow a path that leads you passing the typical Opuntia cactuses until you get to the white sandy beach of Puerto Chino. Here you can make a small walk passing the lazy sea lions that sleep on the beach, towards the blue footed boobies on the rocks. From the top you have an amazing view and you might see some sea turtles in the turquoise seawater.

Stop At: Galapaguera de Cerro Colorado, San Cristobal, Galapagos Islands
You will walk back to the car so you can continue to La Galapaguera, a breeding center with very nice wooden walkways and clear indications. To get to the station your taxi driver brings you to the entrance, from where you can walk towards the incubation center. Along the way you might have to step over a tortoise, as they walk around loose in the area! After the tour you will have lunch and the the driver brings you back to your hotel.

Day 4: ESPAOLA (OPTIONAL DAY)

Stop At: Punta Suarez, Espanola, Galapagos Islands
Early in the morning you will board a small boat that will navigate southwards. After 2 hours the boat arrives at Punta Suarez, where you will go on land for a walk of about 2 hours. During the walk you will be able to see lots of birds like the Espaola albatross, blue-footed boobies, Nazca boobies, the Espaola mockingbird which has a longer and more curved beak than the one on the central islands, tropical birds and hawks. Many red-green iguanas and colonies of sea lions can also be found on this islands. Continuing inland, the trail leads to a cliff on the southern side of the island overlooking the ocean. Waves crash into a lava fissure, creating a blowhole that sprays water nearly 30 mts into the air at high tide.

Stop At: Baha Gardner
After the hike you will return to the boat that navigates to the other side of the island where Gardner Islet is located. Here you will have the chance to go snorkeling fr about 1.5 hours. Here you will marvel at schools of large colorful tropical fish, including yellow-tailed surgeon fish, king angelfish and the bumb-head parrotfish. A few underwater caves teem with wildlife, and there are rocky walls covered with various invertebrate species. The occasional massive manta ray or spotted eagle ray may glide by as white-tipped reef sharks nap on the ocean floor in rocky areas. This snorkeling site also offers wonderful chance to swim with playful sea lions. Afterwards you will have lunch on board and the boat will head back to Puerto Baquerizo Moreno. In this tour lunch and snorkel equipment are included

Day 5: TRANSFER OUT

Stop At: Airport Isla San Cristobal
Depending on flight times, an airport transfer with Spanish speaking driver is arranged.
