Day 1: Edinburgh — Fort WilliamMeet your guide in central Edinburgh, and then climb into your comfortable minivan and travel northwest out of the capital through the beautiful Lowlands of Scotland to the Highlands. On route, pass by rivers, lochs, dense woodland and both Doune Castle and Stirling Castle.
Cross the wild Rannoch Moor, a vast expanse of lochs, rivers, featherbed bog and rocky terrain that is home to a variety of plants, insects and wildlife. Then, pass Glencoe, a peaceful village that was featured in the James Bond movie Skyfall, and take in the spectacular mountain and valley landscapes that envelop the area.
Arrive at Fort William in the evening and check in to your accommodation before exploring the town independently.
Overnight: 3-star guesthouse or hotel in Fort William
Day 2: Fort William – Isle of Skye (B) After enjoying breakfast in your hotel, meet up with your guide and group and set off for the Isle of Skye, the largest island in the Inner Hebrides of Scotland.
Gaze out at the breathtaking scenery and keep on the lookout for Glenfinnan Viaduct — a distinctive railway viaduct that was featured in several of the Harry Potter movies — as you head toward the small but active harbor of Mallaig. On arrival, board a ferry for the short crossing to Armadale on the Isle of Skye.
Next, hop back inside the minivan and enjoy a scenic journey down the Sleat peninsula, noting the windswept moors and lush plantation fields as you travel. Depending on the weather, either head to Elgol and enjoy the seascape and views of the Cuillin Mountains, or visit the incredible waterfall in Glenbrittle.
In the evening, arrive at your accommodation in Lochalsh, where you’ll enjoy the rest of the evening at your leisure.
Overnight: 3-star guesthouse or hotel in Lochalsh
Day 3: Isle of Skye (B) Savor breakfast at your hotel and then set off to begin your exploration of Skye. On route to your first stop, gaze out at the pretty scenery and chat with your guide about the itinerary for the day. The sights you’ll see are dependent on your guide, the time of year and the weather conditions.
Maybe travel north to Trotternish Ridge, which is formed by a series of landslips including the well-known craggy pinnacles of the Old Man of Storr and the dramatic sea cliff of Kilt Rock. At the mountain pass of the Quiraing, the only part of the landslip still in movement, make out the unusual landscape forms that earned names like the Needle, the Table and the Prison.
Further west, the scenery changes as you travel to the verdant valley of Glendale and Neist Point, a stunning multi-colored sea cliff that juts into the bay at the most westerly point on the island. Observe flocks of seabirds like gannets, black guillemots, razorbills and shags, and, in the crashing waters below, you may be lucky and catch a glimpse of a whale, porpoise or a basking shark. Then, follow your guide to Dunvegan Castle (own expense), a 13th-century ancestral home built on a rocky outcrop for the heads of the Clan MacLeod, and learn how the wealthy lived on this rugged isle.
After exploring the Isle of Skye’s natural beauty, return to your accommodation and spend the evening as you wish.
Overnight: 3-star guesthouse or hotel in Lochalsh
Day 4: Isle of Skye — Edinburgh (B)After breakfast, check out of your accommodation and set off south, passing Loch Cluanie and Glen Shiel, perhaps spotting red deer and wild goats. You’ll also catch sight of Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in the British Isles, as well as the Grampians and Monadhliath Mountains.
Make a brief stop in Highland Perthshire before returning to Edinburgh via the Lowlands, affording excellent views of the Forth estuary and Forth Rail Bridge, a cantilever bridge built in 1890 that stretches an impressive 8,296 feet (2,528 meters) in length.

Our guide, Stephan, made our 4 days in the Highlands and Isle of Skye very enjoyable. He did his very best to offset the terrible weather we encountered. We saw many beautiful sights that he brought to life with his very entertaining stories.

My senior citizen mother, sister and me were taking some time out together - the trip was paced well and suited all ages. My mother absolutely loved it.

Andrew from the tour company Rabbies was extremely solicitous of my mother, letting her do things she felt up to doing. The scenery was beautiful and the group was nice. We even celebrated the graduation of one of our fellow travelers!

    Good people to travel with!

Duncan did an excellent job. We really enjoyed our visit to the West Highlands and Isle of Skye. The weather wasn't great but, the tour was. The accommodations were okay maybe could be improved in some locations.

  • 24-Oct-2018

Exceeded my expectations. Had a great time. Rabbies was very run, and their driver Ross took very good care of us. I couldn't recommend it more.

  • 10-Aug-2018

Stefan was a wonderful tour guide and made the trip spectacular with his stories, music and enthusiasm for Skye.
The mini bus allowed us to go on curvy roads high in the mountains for amazing walks and views. The B and Bs were very comfortable and everyone slept well. The best way to visit the Highlands!

For my first time traveling alone in a foreign country, I chose to do a group tour of the Highlands. I wasn't sure which trip to chose while looking on Viator, but I was recommended to Rabbies by several friends. I learned Rabbie's has hostel, hotel, BnB, as well as choose your own accommodation options. I went with the single rooms in hotels/BnBs, which meant I had nothing to worry about except meals during my trip.
I loved the small group aspect! Our tour guide, Heather, learned all 15 of our names by the end of the day and made an effort to learn a little more about each of us so she could cater her narration and stops to our liking. The group also gets to know each other a little bit, which was nice traveling by myself for the first time. We had people from Japan, Korea, USA, Germany, and more!
There was never really a point where we were just driving for long periods of time. Every minute in the minibus which was very comfortable was learning, stopping, picture-taking, sightseeing, or relaxing. I couldn't have done as many options or seen as many things traveling by myself, even if I tried! Stops INCLUDED Forth Bridge, Glen Coe, Glen Finnian/Jacobite Express Harry Potter Train, Fort William, all over the Isle of Skye, Loch Ness, and more!
Heather was wonderful and offered to take pictures for all of us so we wouldn't only have selfies and pictures of the landscape. It was so nice to have her willing to help with that traveling solo.

You cannot possibly go wrong with this trip! Their accommodations are amazing for the price. HIghly recommend you use any of their trips, not just this 4 day one. Even the locals will tell you so!

Everything about this was wonderful! I personally don't like tours, but this was a trip with my mom and she felt much more comfortable doing the tour. We had a great time. All the places we stayed were wonderful and our tour guide through Rabbies was lovely to spend 4 days with. We some some incredible things. Of course I like to stop for every photo opp and this just isn't possible on a tour like this, but I felt good about the stops we did have. I also felt the value of the tour was exceptional. It was a very fair price for all the transport and accommodations. We loved it!

  • 13-Oct-2017

Excellent tour. Tour guide/driver was exceptional. Beautiful scenery and we learned so much of Scotland's history. Only issue we had was that other than my wife, myself and the tour guide/driver, every one else on the bus was Chinese and spoke very limited English. We would have preferred to be on a tour with other people that we could more easily communicate and interact with.

  • 13-Oct-2017

Our Rabbies tour exceeded all expectations. Our host, Audrey, was fantastic, sharing history and local stories with us throughout our journey. We were privileged to see areas in the Highlands and Isle of Skye that many tourists may miss and our 4 Day Highlands Tour provided memories that we will cherish. I recommend this tour to all ages!

Very nice pace, super friendly and caring driver - Matt, that took us to the local secret spots not overran by tourists.
