Overview

Experience the atmosphere of Transylvania on this 3-night tour. Starting with an pick up from your hotel, visit first the medieval city of Sibiu. The second day is dedicated to the most beautiful castle from Eastern Europe, Hunyadi Castle and the citadel of Alba Iulia. Then on the third day you will visit Sighisoara, a medieval Unesco city, and the birth place of Vlad Dracul the Impaler and the beautiful medieval center of Brasov. The last day is dedicated to the wonderful Peles Palace in Sinaia and Bran Castle (Dracula's Castle). Dont forget to taste some of the local food with Romanian, Hungarian, and German influences.

Day 1: Bucharest Cozia Sibiu

Departure from your hotel at 09 a.m. and visit the monastery of Cozia on the Valley of Olt. Later we will arrive in the medieval town of Sibiu, also European Capital of Culture in 2007. Enjoy a tour of the old town with its Big Square, Small Square and the beautiful Evangelical Cathedral in the Huet Square. If requested You can have a special dinner in a peasents hous in Sibiel. Overnight in a central located 4* hotel in Sibiu.

Day 2: Sibiu Hunyadi Castle Alba Iulia Sibiu

In the morning we will visit the most important gothic Castle from Eastern Europe: Hunyadi Castle former residence of Kind Mathias of the Hungarian Empire and later we will arrive in the city where Romania was Born in 1918: Alba Iulia that is considered to be the spiritual capital of Romania. Overnight in the same cetral located 4* hotel in Sibiu.

Day 3: Sibiu Biertan Sighisoara Brasov

After breakfast we will cross the typical Transylvanian villages and arrive in Biertan where we will visit the Unesco fortified church of Biertan, famous for the tower of divorce that has an interesting legend. Later we will arrive Sighisoara where Vlad Dracula was born. Visit the medieval Unesco citadel of Sighisoara and departure to one of the beautiful cities in Romania that is Brasov, where you can visit the famous Black Church; in the heart of the city, it is the largest Gothic building in the South East Europe.

Day 3: Brasov Bran Sinaia Bucharest

After breakfast we'll head to Bran where you need to get to experience the charm of the legend; here is the famous castle which according to tradition was home for the Count Dracula and inspired the novel written by Stoker. Born at the beginning as a military fortress, it was occupied by Maghiars, Austrians, then abandoned and restored to its splendour only in the 19th century. Topped by four towers and magnificent museum rooms, it is a gem of Romanian's medieval art, as well as home of the mysterious charming and creepy Count Dracula.

In the evening visit the Peles Castle, considered among the most beautiful in Europe. Peles Castle is a masterpiece of eclectic architecture dominated by neo German Renaissance style. Stained-glass windows with scenes from German fairy tales, chandeliers in Murano glass, fine wood carvings and gold or Cordoba leather-paneled walls, Sevre porcelain and ivory carvings are completing the picture of the favourite residence of the royal family and especially of Queen Elizabeth. Peles Castle may be considered the castle of Records - it was the first building of its kind to have since the construction a central heating system and elevator - in the theatre ordered by the queen was presented for the first time in Romania a movie. Itinerary:

Day 1 – Bucharest – Poiana Brasov (B)

Pickup from Bucharest airport in the morning: Transfer by car, van, minibus or coach (dependent on group size) to Poiana Brasov (mountain resort 13 km from Brasov, altitude 1,030 m) and visit the fabulous Peles Castle – the former summer residence of the Royal family.

Day 2- Poiana Brasov – Bran - Brasov – Poiana Brasov (B)

Morning drive to Bran to visit “Dracula’s” Castle (built in 1377). Continue on to Brasov (formerly Kronstadt, founded by the Saxon colonists), a lovely city founded in the 12th century by Saxon colonists, which still preserves its medieval look in the old districts.
Take a panoramic city tour and guided walking tour through the old town centre, including a visit to the Black Church.

Day 3 – Poiana Brasov – Sighisoara – Poiana Brasov (B)

Free time in Poiana Brasov or take an optional visit (own expense) to the medieval citadel (the “Upper Town”) of Sighisoara also the birth place of Vlad Impaler (formerly Schaessburg): the massive Clock Tower, the Evangelical Church, the roofed stairway, the Church on the Hill etc.

Day 4 – Ppoiana Brasov – Bucharest Airport (B)

Transfer to the airport in Bucharest or at your hotel. If you don't have the flight in the same day our tour guide will present to you the beautiful capital of Romania, Bucharest.
