Overview
On this 6-hour private city tour, see some of the most significant and interesting venues and attractions in Johannesburg. You'll stop at Nelson Mandela's modern home in the suburb of Houghton, see some rich and poorer ( but vibrant) suburbs, enjoy great views of the city from the Rand and the top of our highest office building, visit the Apartheid Museum, Africa's richest square mile with Nelson Mandela Square at its center and explore other central Johannesburg sights. All in the comfort of a private vehicle with your own well-informed, experienced, communicative, and fully qualified guide.Know More about this tour
Landmarks you'll see include the Carlton Centre (the city's tallest building, also known as the 'Top of Africa'), Satyagraha House (the former home of Mahatma Ghandi), the Old Fort prison and the Constitutional Court building, Lilliesleaf Farm (the hideout of the African National Congress and Nelson Mandela during Apartheid; entrance fees not included), and Nelson Mandela Square in Sandton. Plus, visit the Apartheid Museum and see Vilakazi Street in Soweto.
Your tour ends with drop-off at your hotel in the late afternoon.
Please note: On Mondays, you'll visit Hector Pieterson Museum instead of the Apartheid Museum.

Day 1 - Pretoria Voortrekker monument, Kruger House, City Tour, Parliament Buildings. Day 2 - Johannesburg suburbs, Constitutional Court and Prison Museum then Apartheid Museum (no time for Soweto, sadly, but we have visited Kailisha near Cape Town) Linda our guide was really excellent - knowledgable, perceptive, supremely articulate and very sensititive to our needs. Linda picked us up and dropped us off at our Hotel in Sandton. Pretoria delightfully small and intimate. Voortreker the highlight. Johannesburg - big gritty city, with the contrast between poor and smart quarters just 1km apart stark. Apartheid museum really excellent - allow at least three hours, ideally all day.
