I sent my parents on this tour while they were on a layover in Cairo. The person operating the tour contacted me in Whatsapp day before the tour started to decide on a place and time to meet and pick up my parents from the airport.

    The Good part

The tour went well and they were provided with good vegetarian lunch as requested and then dropped back at the airport. They were taken to and from the pyramids in a separate car. The guide also took pictures of them at the pyramids to send it to me Whatsapp.

He was always available in Whatsapp to contact and also let me know when my parents were dropped off at the airport. They were not willing to do the camel ride, so I have nothing much to say about that part.

    Now for the Bad part.

They were asked to pay for the entrance to the pyramids, even though the entry was included in the tour price. When my parents mentioned that entry is included in the tour, they were told it is extra from the airport.

Moreover when my mom mentioned she is going to use the credit card to purchase the entrance ticket, the guide was insisting that cash was better and told them to give USD. When my parents told that the had GBP only, he took that and bought the tickets and did not give the change back.

There was also a bit of upselling from the guide for a different expensive experience to the see the Sphinx. After a firm no from my parents he backed down and took them to the same Sphinx in the car. They were also taken to some unnecessary expensive trinket shops to buy souvenir..

Overall the experience was nice, but for these minor things. The entrance fees being paid again even though it was advertised as being included in the tour was a sore spot.

This trip was good but not great. The good things: got to leave the airport; driver was great at getting us to the sites alive (traffic is nuts); and the guide was friendly. The not-so-good things: it was Ramadan and the guide told us we wouldn't be able to go to the pyramids; we got an extended camel ride to compensate but didn't ride the camels even close to the pyramids; and guide took us to a lot of small businesses that were trying to see us stuff--unexpected from the details of the trip.

Arrived on time, but found no one waiting for us with my name sign as told.. I searched for them everywhere but couldn't find anyone... At the end of the day when I had data connection I got WhatsApp message telling that they were calling and sending messages, but of course, I don't have data or cellular connection on my layover time. It was supposed to be a meet and greet with name sign.. I asked them and Viator to refund the fully paid amount by my credit card, but nothing happened yet.. very disappointing!

If you're in Egypt, you should see some pyramids. Next to Cairo are the Giza pyramids, which are the more famous of them all. Once you get there, they are mostly as you imagined. I was lucky to have Fatma as my tour guide and her English was very understandable, we the did the camel ride through the Sahara desert. At the end our my journey, she took the time to take me shopping for my kids and wife souvenirs before drop me back to airport.

My tour actually began 8 hours prior to my arrival in Egypt when Yasser, my guide, contacted me to introduce himself. He assured me that everything was gong to be taken care of and encouraged me to relax. When I landed in Cairo, I proceeded to the ground transportation pick-up. I was nervous because I had no way of using my cell phone and was unsure where the rendevouz point was. Almost immediately I spotted Yasser with a sign adorned with my name waiting for me. He grabbed my bag and took me to the car with a driver waiting and water bottles in the back. On the nearly One hour drive to Giza Yasser gave me a breif but thorough history of Egypt and explained what we would be seeing. Upon arrival, I left my bags in the car and Yasser led me to the pyramids. He was eager to give me a good experience, so he often volunteered to hold my camera so he could photograph me wondering around the site, as well as excouraged me to perform goofy photo poses. The tour included a breif but memorable camel ride bring a couple bucks for a tip. They also seemed to appreciate pens, so bring a few to give out. My flight was still hours away, so Yasser suggested we burn the time at a papyrus gallery and spice house. After that, we had lunch at a local joint which was delicious and headed back to the airport. Overall, the experience seemed tailor-made to me, the service was impeccable and friendly, and all previous concerns were quickly extinguished. I have already suggested this tour to my friends in the area, and cannot recommend this experience enough to anyone who has a couple hours to burn in Egypt. Cheers - dL
