A 9-day action-packed Kimberley trip where you get to hike, swim and camp in some of the most spectacular locations in outback Australia. You will be bush camping most nights, cook incredible meals with simple appliances and sleep under the beautiful starry night sky. This tour takes you through the heart of the Kimberley outback, departing Darwin heading west towards Kununurra and on to the Gibb River Road, venturing into Lake Argyle, the Bungle Bungles, El Questro and many more unforgettable locations. There is the opportunity to go on a boat ride on Lake Argyle, Australia's largest man-made lake and a helicopter ride over the Bungle Bungles. You'll also be able to spot native animals in their natural habitat and reward yourself with a swim after hiking to some of Australia's best waterfalls. The tour finishes in the pearling town of Broome.

Your guides are experienced leaders in the Kimberley and can share their extensive knowledge with you throughout the trip. Be prepared to bush camp throughout the tour, prepare all your own meals (with your guides help) and sleep under the stars in a swag. Itinerary:

Day 1 (L,D)
Begin you day with a hotel pickup from your Darwin accommodation at 6am, before making your first stop at the remarkable Magnetic and Cathedral termite mounds. Continue on to Edith Falls for a refreshing swim before driving further south, towards Katherine and hiking up to Baruwei Lookout for a view over the impressive Katherine Gorge. Afterwards, move on to the Victoria River region for the first bush camp.

Day 2 (B,L,D)
Start today with a hike into the Victoria River escarpments to see some of the unique rock paintings and breathtaking scenery in Jubarra National Park. Cross the border into Western Australia and visit Lake Argyle, Australia’s largest man-made lake, where you will have the opportunity to take a cruise (additional AU$30 per person). Make a quick stop in Kununurra before heading towards camp.

Day 3 (B,L,D)
Today your tour heads through the Durack and Carr Boyd Ranges before embarking on a challenging off-road adventure into the Purnululu National Park (Bungle Bungles) where you will hike into Echidna Chasm and Mini Palms. Tonight, camp in the Purnululu (Bungle Bungles) National Park in the Kimberley.

Day 4 (B,L,D)
The day starts with a hike through the magnificent Bungle Bungles as you make your way to Cathedral Gorge, Whip Snake Gorge, the Window and Piccaninny Creek Lookout. There will also be the option of a scenic helicopter flight (starting from AU$269 per person,depending on group size - for an 18-minute scenic tour). Continue on to campsite.

Day 5 (B,L,D)
Today your tour takes you to the start of the Gibb River Road as you head into the Cockburn Ranges to Emma Gorge, a pristine swimming hole. Continue onto the famous El Questro station where you will camp for the night. You will be able to quench your thirst at the Swinging Arm Bar and catch up with the Kimberley locals and fellow travelers.

Day 6 (B,L,D)
The first stop today is a series of crystal clear hot springs known as Zebedee Springs before embarking on an adventurous hike up the palm-filled gorge known as El Questro Gorge. At the top you will be rewarded with a swim in the spring-fed waterfall before trekking back to the truck and drive on to bush camp, which will include crossing the well-known Pentacost River.

Day 7 (B,L,D)
Today continue the of road tour on the Gibb River Road making stops at lookouts and rock art sites along route. Hike into Manning Gorge where you will see ancient Bradshaw rock paintings and have the opportunity to spot the Northern Red-Faced turtle that’s found in the area. Enjoy another night bush camping under the stars.

Day 8 (B,L,D)
Start the morning by taking a swim at either Galvans or Adcock Gorge depending on the seasonal conditions. Then continue on to the remarkable teared waterfall known as Bell Gorge in the King Leopold Conservation Park before heading to camp.

Day 9 (B,L)
Start the day exploring Windjana Gorge and spotting freshwater crocodiles, which are abundant in the area.  As you wonder into the gorge your guide will tell you stories of Jandamarra and the Bunuba resistance. Afterwards grab your torches and sink into Tunnel Creek, an amazing limestone cave system where bats and freshwater crocodiles hang out. Finish your Kimberley off road tour in Broome in the afternoon but not before a visit to the Derby Boab Prison Tree.
