“Exceeded our expectations” is an understatement for my wife and I when considering this high-energy tribute to the music of ABBA. Apart from attending the ABBA avatar extravaganza in London, you will find no better celebration of this group’s iconic catalogue of music. The performers at Hamner’s Theatre put heart and soul into a performance that only amplified the natural exuberance of the music itself. Like the originals, these artists combine technology and stunning personal vocals (regularly highlighted throughout the show) to deliver a wall of sound that allows for total immersion in the signature songs that have sustained ABBA’s popularity into the twenty-first century. Bu they go farther and that is a special treat for the audience. Interspersed throughout the show are detailed historical references that place songs in the context of the group’s collective career and personal struggles, giving extra meaning and insight that makes this show a rare treat. Their reach is impressive and stretches from ABBA’s earliest beginnings to the group’s 2021 release that delivered fans new music after a forty-year wait. These performers clearly LOVE what they do, refuse to “phone it in,” and commit from the start to pleasing longtime ABBA fans and capturing the ears of the uninitiated. Lots of entertainment choices in Branson and we have long experience with most of them. As locals, when friends and family visit we want our show selections for them to guarantee a good time. Without hesitation we put this show in the “not to be missed” column. Pure musical enjoyment, pure fun, and new appreciation for Sweden's most celebrated performers.
