Know More about this tour

The tour begins inside the Syntagma metro station where you will visit the metro Museum (in 10 minutes) with very interesting archaeological artifacts from the daily life of Ancient Athens that came to light during the construction of the metro.
You will then continue on to the House of the Greek Parliament, the Monument to the Unknown Soldier and watch the changing of the guards. Your tour continues towards the National Gardens and on to the beautiful neoclassical Zappeion Hall, in front of which tower the surviving columns of the Temple of Zeus and Hadrians Arch, both of which you will have the opportunity to visit.
You will enter the Acropolis from the south slope so as to avoid the crowds and also to visit theDionysus sanctuary and Dionysus Theatre. Your guide will give you a detailed explanation of the glorious monuments of the Acropolis such as, the Parthenon, the Erechtheion, thePropylaia, the Nike Temple, the Agrippa Monument and the surrounding monuments such as theOdeon of Herodes Atticus, the Observatory as well as the Philopappos, Mars Hill, and Pnyx Hill.
Time for exploring and picture taking at the Acropolis will be provided after your Acropolis tour. For the guided tour of the Agora you will meet your tour guide at about 13:45 in front of the Acropolis canteen, which is located exactly opposite the main exit. Before the Agora tour starts, you can grab a snack or a drink from the canteen as the tour schedule does not include time for a leisure lunch.
You will then walk down to the Ancient Agora which was the commercial, political, and financial center of Ancient Athens. The walk through the monuments will offer you the sense of traveling back in time. You will visit the Hephaestus Temple - the best preserved Greek Temple from the 5th century BC, and you will see the wonderful church of the 12 Apostles, the Temple of Apollo Patroos, the Stoa of Zeus, the Altar of Zeus, and with your knowledgeable and professional guide the ancient stones will come alive.
The Ancient Agora is the place where Socrates, Plato and many world renowned philosophers walked and taught. Your licensed guide will then take you to the Attalos Museum which is worthwhile visiting as it houses artifacts of great historical value such as the IDs of the ancient Greeks, and the original measures and weights for the Market inspectors.
The tour ends at the Ancient Agora at about 15:00.

  • This was a great tour. We did it in the cold rain, so that made it a bit of a challenge, but it was still a good tour. We had Dorina, who had a degree in history I think, we did several tours, so I forget now. Anyhow, very informative, interested, passionate, and authoritative she knew what she was talking about.

  • Kostas was a great guide, well informed and kept the pace well for the group. Nice way to see and get your bearings around Athens

  • Our tour of Athens was fantastic. We had fantastic weather. We saw more than we could have ever hoped to see in one day. The Acropols, zeuss temple , Mars Hill, Dionysus Theater, the ancient Agora, the National Gardens , the changing of the guard, a Metro Museuum, Hadrians Arch, Zappeion Hall. Our guide Chris was fantastic....not only a wonderful a friend!! If you are up for a long walk and some climbing not terrible up to the Acropolis....take this tour. You will not regret it!!

  • Amazing day! Ive been to Athens twice and thought that I had seen these sites before. We approached the Acropolis from a direction I never had so I received some great new shots. I finally was able to see the changing of the guard at Syntagma Square and the Temple of Hephaestus. Be prepared for a lot of walking though.

  • The tour was fabulous and our tour guide, ERMIS was the most knowledgeable tour guide you could possibly ask for.
He made the tour so much better and we were so thankful to have him and not the other guides. The tour itself is long and
very comprehensive and involves a fair bit of walking. But,it is a walking tour and we did the optional Ancient Agora and Attalos
Museum tour, which made it even longer. Highly recommend the Agora add on tour. Expect a large crowd when you reach
the Acropolis, I mean a LARGE crowd, but, everyone has the same idea, so be prepared. The price was reasonable for the tour.
To sum up, highly recommend this tour and if you get ERMIS as your tour guide...thank your lucky stars.

  • Really enjoyed this tour, our tour guide was great.

  • The tour was great! Our guide (Kostas) made it informative and fun. We never felt rushed or like we could not ask a question. We had two children under 11 and he was very patient with us...especially since it was so hot up on the Acropolis. We learned a lot and got some amazing pictures.

  • This tour was amazing!
