Know More about this tour

Meet your guide at the prearranged location, then enjoy a leisurely stroll to the foothills of the UNESCO World Heritagelisted Acropolis of Athens, an ancient citadel and one of the worlds most revealing archaeological sites.

Head for the south slope of The acropolis to avoid the main crowds, then pay your entrance fee and make your way inside to see the bounty of ancient treasures that await. Along the way, visit the Theatre of dionysus, a 5th-century amphitheater that is often cited as the birthplace of the performing arts. Hear about its history from your guide and imagine it filled with Ancient Greek theatergoers. Youll also stop at Dionysus Sanctuary, a site dedicated to the Greek god of wine and fertility who was also the patron god of the Greek stage.

Inside the Acropolis, get up close to important sights such as Propylaea gateway, Erechtheion, the Temple of athena nike and the Parthenon, a former temple dedicated to the goddess Athena. Pause for photos by these fascinating ruins and learn all about their history and historical importance from your guide.

When you reach the summit of the sacred hill, be awed by the sweeping panoramas of Athens below. Learn about the excavation details and gain further insight into the citadels ruins. Youll also hear about surrounding monuments such as Mars Hill, the Odeon of herodes atticus and the Ancient agora, once the heart of ancient Athens.

Continue on to the New Acropolis museum, which has been ranked one of the top five museums in the world. Follow your guide on a tour of its highlights, which include impressive collections of statues and relics, as well as the Gallery of the Slopes of The acropolis, where glass floors reveal archaeological excavation sites.

After approximately 1.5 hours, your tour concludes inside the museum, leaving you free to explore its exhibits further, should you wish.

Excellent tours. We visited both the Acropolis and the museum.. Lots of context and information. Effie is fab, passionate and knowledgeable. Went back after sunset when few people were around. Stunning!

Well organized, informative. Went at an appropriate pace. Guide a native Athenian, who was friendly and kept us entertained. She got us around the crowds.

Our guide Angela was absolutely incredible! Her knowledge and delivery of the history and culture of the Acropolis and Athens was like being in a phD lecture. It was amazing!!!

Brilliant great experience, our tour operator she was so passionate about the history of the acropolis thank you 😊

This is a very interesting and enjoyable tour. I mostly appreciate the skill and knowledge of our guide (sorry I forget her name). It is a physically taxing day of climbing (walking), but she gave us several stops for discussion as we proceeded to the top of the Acropolis and down again to the Museum. This was a perfect way to acquaint ourselves (as first-time Athens visitors) with the area and the wonderful antiquities. Good job, all.

Our guide was excellent! Wonderful, small group experience. We saw the top attractions at the acropolis with great explanation and followed with a trip to the incredible museum.

I booked on line and it said 56.00 per person for entrance to acropolis and museum. Plus to meet our tour person in front on frozen yogurt store. On top of that they charged us 40 euros and when it was time for museum entrance we had to buy tickets AGAIN for 20 euros. This was a total ripoff. What a waste of money for a horrible tour guide. Would not recommend it!

The “skip the lines” is a tourist trap - some guy is there with a pouch/envelope with tickets to the various “sights” However, I was told it was the end of the season and he didn’t have enough tickets. Really so much for skip the line. Anyway, the tour guide seemed to stay separate from the whole ticket scam - she gave an excellent tour - and yes the whole group had to wait while she purchased tickets for the people who the “skip the lines” guy didn’t have enough of. “Skip the lines is just a total scam - in terms of skipping the line. But the tour guide was good, very good. They make this sound like one experience but a tour guide is there to take you on the tour and a ticket seller is also there but totally separate. It’s just another way to take advantage of the limited time of tourists. Just book an honest tour guide. The “skip the line” part is basically a scam.

This was a great tour. Our guide is an archaeologist and led us to the top of the acropolis slowly with stops for information. Her explanations of the exhibits in the museum were excellent
