Bridgewater Mill and Waterwheel. Set in the charming town of Bridgewater in the rambling scenery of the Adelaide Hills, this old mill dates back to 1860 when it was built by John Dunn, a mill engineer from Devonshire. He built a number of flour mills throughout Australia, but the Bridgewater Mill is by far his most famous.
Situated on Mount Barker Road, the mill boasts an impressive working waterwheel which was built back in the mid 1800s. Dunn chose this particular spot for the mill because it was a prime hotspot for catching traffic that passed through the area.
In 1986, the mill was bought by a consortium that renovated it and integrated an award-winning winery into the building: Petaluma wines. Today, it is both a popular restaurant and a wine cellar, drawing in crowds looking for cultural pursuits in the Adelaide area.

Had a lovely day with a small group. Paul our tour guide was on the ball from the beginning. He couldn't be any nicer. There was a mechanical problem with the captain proud paddle boat on the murray river but the staff were amazing with what they had to deal with and the food was lovely and the apple crumble was to die for. cocktails and wine was lovely and the hahndorf stop/s were fabulous. Loved the leather store and the clock shop were an experience. Recommend this tour company, very personal and caring.
River Murray 3 Hour Cruise was lovely;- extremely enjoyable. The morning drive to Rofty Mountain was good, we couldn't understand why we had to drive all the way in the morning and DO ALMOST THE SAME DRIVE IN THE AFTERNOON where we could have covered the same area in one visit;- that was very ill planned & lots of waste of time. I still don't understand why we were charged $306.84 for a couple for the tour instead of $298;- the total requested price was $298 and the charged price was $306.84. Pls explain.
The pickup was excellent, the narrative by the tour guide cum coach driver Allan was superb. The cruise on paddle boat was great with yummy lunch.
Allen our tour guide was excellent, friendly and informative. After pick-up from our accommodation, first stop Mount Lofty with Allen providing an interesting Adelaide commentary along the way. Next, we boarded the Captain Proud paddle boat. The lunch cruise on the Murray River was a highlight, interesting commentary from the Captain, simple but tasty meal, reasonably priced drinks and good service from the friendly crew. A quick stop at Beerenberg Farm shop, an hour to browse the lovely sights and shops of Hahndorf before our final stop at Bridgewater Mill for a refreshing drink. A full by not rushed, very enjoyable day. Thank you Allen & CP Tours-well organised and high value for money. We would highly recommend this tour.
The guide was very pleasant. However the paddle boat was a disappointment. It is need of a rufurbish, very tired decoration. The day was interesting and the company was good.
It was a very enjoyable day. The river cruise was lovely and relaxing with a delicious lunch. The stops in the Adelaide Hills are always interesting.
The drive to and from Murray Bridge was okay. The boat trip was okay. Lunch wasn't all that flash and some more commentary on the river would have been nice.
Our guide Paul was energetic and entertaining in imparting information about south Australia. He made the drive to Murry enjoyable with stops in both directions at interesting locations
A lovely day on the Murray. The cruise and lunch was great. Very relaxing. Unfortunately our driver Alan did quite a lot of whinging and the last stop at the Bridgewater Inn was really unnecessary. It wasn't on the itinerary and we can't understand why we went there. We had visited the Bridgewater Mill earlier that day, why we had to return to Bridgewater at all was a mystery to us. Alan took us to the Beerenberg shop and he seemed quite reluctant, saying it was boring. He didn't seem enthusiastic about anywhere he took us. Not a very good ambassador for Adelaide and its surrounds.
food , commentary and wonderful staff just great to relax and be looked after. the vessel and points of interest were great
