We went to the folk park during the National Heritage week, when a lot of special activities were supposedly planned: staff dressed in period attire, performance of traditional crafts (thatching, blacksmith), live music, RIC policeman. But there was no timetable for those activities, even no precise days planned, and the cash desk hostess was unable to inform more. We went in the morning and there was absolutely no special activities, even the resident craftsmen were not there; there were only fires burning in the chimneys. The mills looked abandoned. The castle is quite interesting but its different rooms are poorly signposted and you may miss many of them if you don't examine carefully the leaflet.

The folk park was interesting although the live demonstrations in some of the buildings could have been presented more professionally. The castle visit itself was very poorly organised. Too many visitors were allowed in, creating complete chaos in small rooms and the very narrow stairways were actually, in my opinion, dangerous because of the numbers. The interior was, however, quite spectacular, but somewhat spoilt by the overcrowding. The shop, toilets and cafés were all good, despite the crowds!

The castle was the highlight of our visit here. My husband's last name is McNamara which was the family that originally owned the castle, so we enjoyed listening to the history and seeing the coat of arms.

Our group ranged in age from 3 to 66, and there was something for everyone. I have visited before, a long time ago, and it was much better than I remembered. The old style houses were very interesting and gave you a real feel for life in the 19th century for different types of people. The walled garden was delightful, with unexpectedly beautiful views. The children loved running round and seeing the animals, especially the Irish wolf hounds. There was a great choice of food in the cafe, although you could easily take a picnic. The playground was a big hit with the children, although it really needs more seating for weary parents and especially grandmas. The castle itself was tremendous, and the view from the top was spectacular. Oh my aching legs after all those steps, but worth it. I would particularly like to commend the man who was working in the school for his interesting tales and lovely manner.

What a super safe environment. Paths were clean, signposts were clear and areas were easily found. The houses are all so well presented and the staff were polite and extremely helpful!

Percorso del villaggio facile da seguire. Straordinario! Villaggio del 1200 con castello favoloso. Consigliatissimo, soprattutto per chi ha dei bambini.

We tried to get the medieval dinner tickets, but they were sold out. So we just went with the standard ticket. I was blown away by how large this place is. Dad's---- there is a real life working pub in the mock village - might be a place to go while the kids have their fun :) Just saying. We would likely go again in the future. Call out to the Smithy apprentice, he was amazing -- it is too bad he doens't have a horse for all those horseshoes he's making!

Arrived as part of a coaching holiday and found the castle and buildings interesting. Local history at its best with interesting information.

Everyone knows what you did with those dogs and I will never support a business that treats animals like disposable attractions. Bunratty castle removed both their Irish wolfhounds during COVID and brought two new ones recently. Disgusting behaviour and it's very obvious by bunratty castle twitter account that management wish to push this whole situation under the carpet.
