Know More about this tour

Travel by air-conditioned coach from central New Orleans to the nearby fishing village of Jean Lafitte, named after an 18th-century smuggler. Home to a variety of diverse cultures, this area surrounded by Lousiana bayous has been the site of extensive logging operations, sugar and rice plantations and animal trapping enterprises over the years. Today, the people's simple way of life is a marked contrast to the hustle-bustle of New Orleans.

In Jean Lafitte, you can get some snacks (own expense) and check out an albino alligator exhibit before boarding your airboat, a vessel that relies on an aircraft-type propeller mounted on its back to move it forward. Feel the wind in your hair as your move swiftly over the wetlands.

Your native boat captain will talk about the history and culture of the area and point out wildlife as you travel. See lots of alligators lurking in the marshes, as well as local birds, raccoons and nutria -- giant river rodents that call the bayous home.

Conclude your 4-hour family-friendly escape to the Louisiana wetlands with coach transport back to central New Orleans.

  • We arrived at the launching centre and had to stand around for 45 minutes waiting. Nobody bothered to let us know what was happening. The swamps are dirty and more could be done to clean up the plastic bottles, plastic bags, old tires etc . If its such a big tourist attraction which it appeared to be with all the bus loads coming in you would think they would take more pride in the area'!!

  • T earl was great. Too cold for airboat rides and didn't see one alligator. Worst 150 bucks spent in Nola.

  • Really wished we could see more wild life. The noisy from the boat has stopped us from hearing anything the guide had to say.

  • Fantastic tour with T Earle he was an excellent guide with a wealth of knowledge.

  • Our tour guide was super funny and knowledgeable. We got to see several alligators and learn about them and the preservation efforts that took place to restore their population. We also got to meet a lil baby gator named Fluffy. on the ride from New Orleans to the airboats we got to learn some fun thing about the History of New Orleans and Cajun culture. This trip was awesome and worth every penny!

  • This was a grand kid choice and we all enjoyed the trip through the bayou and visiting the alligators!

  • Thoroughly enjoyed this tour. Enjoyed the airboat experience, through the bayous. Saw several alligators. The tour boat leaders seem to vie with each other as to who can thrill the tourists the most with their tricks with the alligators. They fed them, 'kissed' them, and one guy even got in and swam with a couple. Great show for us.

  • Viator is a booking service, not the tour operator. I recommend avoiding this service and booking directly with the operator, Grey Line. I experienced substantial delays on hold while booking the tour. The Viator agent told me that the tour bus would pick up my party at the hotel. When I called Grey Line to confirm arrangements, they told me they never pick up at the hotel and I would have to get my party to the French Quarter and back to connect with the bus. All things considered, this was a very unsatisfactory experience.

  • This is my fourth trip to New Orleans and my first airboat ride and had I have known what I was missing, I would have taken the tour before.

Our tour guide was so much fun. He had the alligators coming right up to the boat. Never knew they liked marshmallows. We went through the channels of moss covered Cyprus trees and truly felt the Bayou experience, Well worth the money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Remember there is no shading, so bring sunscreen and a bottle of water.

  • Richie was a great guide. Very knowledgeable. Definitely something you don't want to miss if visiting the area.
