The Westerkerk was built between 1620 and 1631 in Renaissance style according to designs by architect Hendrick de Keyser (1565-1621). He is buried in the church he designed earlier: the 'Zuiderkerk'. The building of the Westerkerk was finished and completed by his son Pieter de Keyser (1595-1676) and inaugurated on June 8, 1631. The church has a length of 58 meters and a width of 29 meters. The high nave is flanked by the two lower aisles. The three-aisled basilica has a rectangular plan with two transepts of equal dimensions. As a result, the plan for this church was given the form of two Greek crosses connected with each other.
The Anne Frank House (Dutch: Anne Frank Huis) is a writer's house and biographical museum dedicated to Jewish wartime diarist Anne Frank. The building is located on a canal called the Prinsengracht, close to the Westerkerk, in central Amsterdam in the Netherlands.During World War II, Anne Frank hid from Nazi persecution with her family and four other people in hidden rooms at the rear of the 17th-century canal house, known as the Secret Annex (Dutch: Achterhuis). She did not survive the war but her wartime diary was published in 1947. Ten years later the Anne Frank Foundation was established to protect the property from developers who wanted to demolish the block.

Museum couldn’t scan the barcode but let me in. Blue boat had the same issue. Canal tour- audio tour missed 30 minutes of narration.

  • 12-Aug-2023

So much fun it’s nice to hear explanation of some of the places we are passing by What do it again and again?

  • 06-Aug-2023

We arrived for the boat cruise we booked and paid for. On arrival we were informed that we will receive a limited tour as a result of the PRIDE CANAL CARNAVIL. This is terrible, as we did not book and pay for a LIMITED tour. Why were we not informed prior to our arrival on the day of the tour? If we knew we would get a watered down tour, we wouldhave postponed or cancelled the cruise. We are very upset and want a refund please, or an voucher to go on the actual tour that we paid for. THIS IS THE DETAILS OF THE CRUISE THAT WE PAID FOR AND WAS A TOTAL DISSAPPOINTMENT. I liked the English option for the narration got to see almost everything and more from the canals. Wished we could have opened our window. Was stuck.

  • 20-Jul-2023

Rijksmuseum is a great museum and the Blue Boat Company canal cruise was a relaxing and enjoyable way to see the city.

  • 18-Jul-2023

Canal cruise was very good, food was not good , could be improved by providing sandwiches instead of chips

  • 05-Jul-2023

The architecture of the buildings, the many boats on the canals, the calm of the people makes Amsterdam a lovely city for a log weekend visit.

  • 28-Jun-2023

Seeing the Dutch masters up close…astonishing!! The blue boat crew were all very helpful and happy in their work.

  • 09-Jun-2023

The boat tour was awesome. I felt like I had the whole boat to myself as I was the only one sitting outside. The museum is overwhelming. Way too much to see in one visit.

  • 03-Jun-2023

It was pleasant being on the water and seeing the sights. The commentary in multiple languages was a real plus but the quality was mediocre. Could have been more interesting. Wish they could have said where the building was— look to your right or left. We often couldn’t find it.
