  • Loved this day trip to Amsterdam. Great to visit a local cheese factory. We opted for the canal boat ride and learned more about the art and museums of the area and of course the canal and dam system. It's a full day as its about three hours to Amsterdam from Brussels.

  • its a very pleasant trip and tour guide of ours is very knowledgeable introduction of areas of attraction alone the ways. visiting the home transitional cheese making which is interesting.

  • Keep in mind that it is a 3 hour drive from Brussels to Amsterdam so time in the city is somewhat limited. Prior to arriving in the city center we visited an authentic cheese maker which was kind of fun but somewhat unnecessary. However, once there it is a great tour. After an overview of the city the guide provided us with 2 hours of free time to explore the city and eat lunch. Following that we all took a canal boat tour this is optional if you would like to take more time to explore the city on your own. If you have limited time or would like to get a taste of Amsterdam this is a great tour for you.

  • Certainly nothing close to enough time to experience Amsterdam but if you have 1 day to work with, this tour is definitely worth it.

  • This tour was a complete disappointment and waste of money!
The 3 hour trip each way on a bus with no bathroom was inconvenient, although we did stop at a cheese maker on the way that had dirty bathrooms, if you were desperate. Once we arrived in Amsterdam, we walked very quickly through crowds. At two or three stops, a few words were said about the buildings then we were off again. Finally at the Freedom statue, we were given free time...2 hours on our own. We never saw the Anne Frank house which is one of the reasons I booked the tour. If I wanted so much time on my own, I wouldn't have booked a guided tour that I thought would guide me through the city. I would have taken a cheaper and quicker train. ride!

  • Long drive from Brussels but worth it if you have limited time as Amsterdam is a must see. Canal cruise was great. Cheese/clog factory was interesting too.

  • Youhan was amazing!!!!

  • We really enjoyed our trip to Amsterdam with Viator. On the plus side, booking was easy although you had to confirm with Belgian office about pick up points by 9am on the day before the trip, which was difficult for us, as we were travelling to Belgium at that point!, Also the staff were really helpful in liaising with me and were brilliant in helping reunite my son with some personal property he left on the bus at the end of the day too! The guide's knowledge about both Brussels and Amsterdam was really interesting and added to the trip, making the journey to Amsterdam pass a little more quickly.

The journey is around 3 hours each way, but the coach is comfortable. Each journey was broken by a short 'comfort' break which was a good idea as there is no toilet on the coach.

As we approached Amsterdam we were asked if we wanted to go on the canal trip an extra 16 euros each, having read the reviews about being made to stay on the coach for 75 minutes if you DIDN'T go encouraged me to pay up, however, when we arrived in Amsterdam, those that had chosen not to take the trip WERE able to leave the coach and explore the area still close to the centre of Amsterdam while the rest of us enjoyed a pleasant trip along the canals.

From there we travelled close to Dam Square and had the option to follow the guide through the Red Light District before having around 2 and a half hours free time to explore on our own. As others have already said, this is less time that I would have liked, and really only gave us time to eat and browse a few shops before needing to gather to get back on the bus. This trip gives you a flavour of Amsterdam only and you would certainly have insufficient time to visit any of the museums or Anne Franks house as the queues are massive.

After getting back on the coach, we had about a half an hour's journey to the edge of the city to visit a cheese and clog making premises. The owner talked about how the cheese is made for a while before taking us to a large room at the back of the building selling cheese and clogs as well as other Dutch gift items. This was quite interesting but the stop was, as others have said, quite lengthy, and I perhaps would have rather an extra hour in Amsterdam. Before leaving, the coach parked a little up the road outside a windmill which is now a private house and we were allowed to get off the coach and take selfies on the pavement outside.

Ultimately, it was as described...a day trip to Amsterdam and, as I've said, gives you a flavour of the city and of the Netherlands. We enjoyed it and I would recommend it to others. I liked having a guide and being a full-on tourist for the day! If you want to explore Amsterdam, it would be easier to stay in the city itself.

The range of people who went on the trip was extensive: couples of all ages, solo travellers and extended family groups too, and the guide was considerate and inclusive of all.

Thank you for a great day out and great customer service Viator!
