Stop At: Archaeological Site of Olympia, Olympia, Elis Region, West Greece
In western Peloponnese, in the beautiful valley of the Alpheios river, lies the most celebrated sanctuary of ancient Greece. Dedicated to Zeus, the father of the gods, it sprawls over the southwest foot of Mount Kronios, at the confluence of the Alpheios and the Kladeos rivers, in a lush, green landscape. Although secluded near the west coast of the Peloponnese, Olympia became the most important religious and athletic centre in Greece. Its fame rests upon the Olympic Games, the greatest national festival and a highly prestigious one world-wide, which was held every four years to honour Zeus. The origin of the cult and of the festival went back many centuries. Local myths concerning the famous Pelops, the first ruler of the region, and the river Alpheios, betray the close ties between the sanctuary and both the East and West.
Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes
Stop At: Archaeological Museum of Olympia
The Archaeological Museum of Olympia, one of the most important museums in Greece, presents the long history of the most celebrated sanctuary of antiquity, the sanctuary of Zeus, father of both gods and men, where the Olympic games were born. The museum's permanent exhibition contains finds from the excavations in the sacred precinct of the Altis dating from prehistoric times to the Early Christian period. Among the many precious exhibits the sculpture collection, for which the museum is most famous, the bronze collection, the richest collection of its type in the world, and the large terracottas collection, are especially noteworthy.

Stop At: Stadium at Olympia
Free time to visit the town of Olympia.

Pass By: Katakolo Port
After disembarking at Katakolo Port, a guide will meet you and proceed to the vehicle for the drive through the countryside (approximately 30-40 minutes) towards Ancient Olympia, the birthplace of the Olympic Games and the most important sanctuary of Zeus, father of all gods and goddesses.
The starting line is still visibly etched on the marble in the stadium, inviting you to imagine running and competing with the ancient athletes. Enjoy the play of light on the soft greenery and dappled ancient columns in this wonderful and peaceful setting. Visit the archaeological museum beside the ancient site. It contains very interesting exhibits, such as the pediments and the metopes of the Temple of Zeus, the Statue of Nike and Hermes. The tour at the site and museum will take approximately 2-3 hours.
