Know More about this tour

Your Rome half-day tour starts near the Colosseum. Head inside to explore the first and second tiers of the Roman amphitheater with your guide. Hear how seating was allocated to social status, with the Emperors and senators enjoying the best seats in the house, and plebeians toward the top. The stadium’s gladiatorial contests were its main attraction, and you’ll hear tales of the gory games where trained gladiators would fight each other for the amusement of the crowds.

After your Colosseum tour, set off to explore the surrounding area, discovering places that once represented the financial, commercial and political center of Ancient Rome. The main relics and ruins are clustered throughout the Roman Forum, so head inside to wander seeing history set in the site’s stones.

Hear fascinating tales about the power and treachery associated with the Emperors of Ancient Rome while seeing the ruins of once-important monuments like the Temple of Caesar. Stop for photos by the white marble Arch of Septimius Severus, and gaze in wonder at the colonnaded Regia – once the home of the Kings of Rome. Other highlights include the Gemonian stairs and Temple of Vespasian and Titus.

Leave the Roman Forum and continue into Rome’s centro storico, to see all the sights around its historical center. Throw a coin in the impressive Trevi Fountain for luck, and then pose for photos in front of Rome Pantheon – one of the best-preserved Roman monuments in the city. Stroll around Piazza Navona, a lively central square, and learn about Bernini, a much-celebrated Baroque sculptor who designed three of the square’s fountains. Your Ancient Rome half-day walking tour then finishes in the center of town.

  • Excellent guide, very detailed tour, got to see everything we wanted. Just wish we could have had more time in the Colosseum to explore.

  • An EXCELLENT Tour - highly recommended! Viator provided us with a fabulous English-speaking guide that had extraordinary history knowledge. We were totally captivated. Walking thru the 'ruins' was mind-blowing! 5 Stars!!!

  • So glad we went on this tour--it was fantastic. Our guide was exceptional. Well worth the money.

  • Guide pleasant and very knowledgeable but rambled far too much information. Several people asked for restroom stop, he kept saying 15 minutes and 45 minutes later we still had not stopped. That is huge issue, we left tour hour early- had had enough.

  • This tour was amazing!

  • Giuseppe was an excellent guide with a warm friendly manner. The tour covers so much and I think he left no ancient Roman stone unturned!
    Thanks for a wonderful experience.

  • This was an excellent and very informative tour. Well worth the cost. Learned a lot and saw much more than could have on our own in the same amount of time. Joseph was an excellent and friendly guide.

  • A wonderful walk of Ancient Rome. Our tour guide was fantastic. Lots of interesting information given, nice size group, highly recommend.

  • Highly recommend to purchase if you're on a short trip in Rome. You get to see so many things. Since my hotel was close to the Trevi fountain, I got to see it the night before. The Trevi is included on this and it was still great to see it during the day. The Pantheon is also a must, I was caught off guard on how big this structure is. After your tour, have lunch at Piazza Navarone. Enjoy!

  • This was a very good tour and we covered a lot of ground. Our tour guide did a little too much standing around, showing pictures on her iPad instead of walking and talking, which I would have preferred. We saw a lot of the city. Recommended.
