As it turned out, there's so much to see at this interesting historic site that we ended up practically running from one exhibit to another. The stops were so educational that we didn't want to miss any of them. The tour of the mansion was informative but a little better lighting would have been appreciated. The rest of the sites and the visitor center were well lit, though, which is good because there's a lot to see and read.

I wasn’t quite sure what to expect, but to my surprise it was very nice! The mansion is beautiful! It contains many if the original furniture from the family. The docents were very knowledgeable, and the grounds were beautiful! I’m so glad I decided to book this tour!

Great tour of the house. Two young gentlemen explained the process of duelling. They did an excellent job. Check in was slow, they could not scan Viator tickets.

Get the audio set if you go. (Well worth it!) Great historical tour. Loved seeing the more humble original Hermitage on the back property.

This was a great tour. Informative and entertaining. Remarkably well documented and preserved. We were lucky to see an actual duel reenacted. Also the preservation of the slave homes is an important part of the history of the time and the 7th president.

This is a must see if you are traveling to Nashville. I was amazed to see the original furniture of Andrew Jackson. Interesting and informative.

The only thing I wish the interior tour was a little slower so that you can see and enjoy the history of this building.

Who would visit this place? Andrew Jackson has lost some of his populist luster recently as more information about his slave holding ways and Indian Removal scheme comes to our common attention. The tour of the Hermitage doesnt shy away from the discussion of his less enlightened and downright racist behaviors, but incorporates the information to create a fuller picture. Learning about the time, the place and the president was easy enough. Theres a movie to begin, exhibits in a very large hall, audio recordings on hand held devices, large sign posts along the trails and interpretive guides inside the house itself. The grounds are beautiful and well-tended and the graves of Jackson and his beloved Rachel in the garden are a lovely, contemplative ending to the tour. So who would visit? Id say anyone who wanted to learn more about this complicated and unpredictable man, who was most certainly a creature of his time. The tour takes about 3-4 hours and is mostly wheelchair accessible. Its worth an afternoons visit.
