Know More about this tour

Antisana is a stratovolcano of the northern Andes of Ecuador. It is the fourth highest volcano of the country (5.753 m - 18,874 ft), and is located 60 kilometers southeast from Quito. It is a perfect volcanic cone, compound by two volcanic cones; the oldest one was eroded by an old glacier. Your tour guide will pick you up at 7:00 a.m. from your hotel in Quito, and then we will drive you straight through the eastern mountain range, until the village of Pintag, where you start to drive uphill way to the Ecological Reserve!
At 3.810 meters (12,500 ft), you have big opportunities to spot very interesting fauna, like eagles, carunculated caracaras, white tail deer, foxes, and of course the majestic Andean Condor, considered the biggest flying bird of the world and one of the rarest species that probably had survived since the age of the mega beasts (10.000 years approx.)!
You will take a hike through the Andean slopes until the Mica Lake (4.050 m - 13,287 ft), product of the end of the last ice age; in order to have a better view of the volcano and to watch beautiful water birds like Andean lapwings, Andean gulls, Andean coots, Andean ducks, and black-faces ibis, that curiously live in Chile and only in the Antisana Volcano in Ecuador!
After your unbelievable experience in the best condor's territory in Ecuador, you will drive again back downhill way to the Isco canyon, where the nests and cliffs, where condors sleep, are! Enjoying more views of these spectacular birds, we will have a traditional and tasty lunch at a local restaurant.
You will be back in your hotel approximately at 4:00 p.m.

Great day in the Andes with our guide, William. Saw Condors, Bears, Eagles, and lots of amazing wildlife, as well beautiful scenery. I would highly recommend this trip!

Daniel was our tour guide for the day. We saw many condors at multiple locations. He knew where to stop to get the best opportunities to see them as well as other birds. We were able to see black face ibis, caracara, Andean gulls and coots. The scenery is really nice with a great view of the snow capped Antisana volcano and a hike at Mica Lake. The trip included a wonderful lunch at a nice bird watching lodge overlooking the cliffs where condors and Andean bears are frequently seen.

About a year ago I decided to visit the Antisana Reserve with Ecuador Best Tours, and I had a wonderful day with my guide, spotting so many creatures, including the Andean Condors. I decided to go there for a second time due to my previous experience was so good, and I was not disapointed at all! We did a different walk and we were surprised by 12 condores flying even closer to us than the first time. Magnificent and well-planned. I loved my lunch supplyied by the agency as well...! Thank you for everything!

This was a great trip. Leaving at 7 from Quito, makes for a good day and not coming back to late. We stopped at a condor lookout we're we had the pleasure of seeing up to 10 condors dancing in the wind, just majestic! The walk at Antisana Park was rough because of weather conditions, no good views. But of course this is something the guide or agency cannot control. It was such a good day and Hugo is a great guide with a lot of knowledge.

What a great trip. Our guide, Effy, really knows his stuff; from local information to the flora and fauna. Don't know how typical our trip was but we saw plenty of wildlife including about a dozen condors including 2 or 3 perched on the cliff. Never would have seen these if Effy hadn't brought a spotting scope and tripod. Definitely the highlight of the day.

Amazing tour. Luís is an excellent tour guide; knowledgeable and passionate about his job. I highly recommend this tour with Ecuador best tours. You won't be disappointed.

Thoroughly enjoyed our day with Luís from EBT. Started early...inn order to see condors taking flight in the morning sun. We were fortunate to see no less than 14 condors in flight. Afterward, we drove toward Antisana volcano and enjoyed the spectacular scenery of the region. Our 7km hike afforded us the opportunity to see much more wildlife and stunning views of the Andes volcanoes and mountain tops. If you like physical exercise, mixed with unique natural sites, this is the tour for you.
