Overview

The Mistico Hanging Bridges Tour in La Fortuna is an exciting way to experience the lush and diverse rainforest ecosystem. This guided tour takes visitors on a scenic walk through the treetops, crossing a series of impressive hanging bridges, ranging in length from 98 to 410ft, high above the forest floor. The tour lasts around 2.5 hours and covers about 2.5km of trails.
Traversing the bridges, you have the opportunity to spot a wide variety of flora and fauna, including colorful birds, sloths, playful monkeys, and rare insects. Knowledgeable and well-equipped guides are there to help spot and explain about animals and the rainforest ecosystem. Mistico is also known for its impressive panoramic views of the Arenal volcano and Lake Arenal.
As an addition option, you can also choose to take a delicious and traditional Costa Rican lunch. Paying a small extra you can add a relaxing visit to the small but nice "Palmera real hot springs" that can be found behind the restaurant.

Guide was great. Glad we used a guide rather than on our own as he provided many interesting facts and other information that we wouldn’t have received otherwise. He was also good at spotting animals that we totally would have missed.

Me and my girlfirend learned a lot about the flora and fauna in Costa Rica. Enrique was such a nice guide and funny too. We didn't feel like he did it just for the "tour", but he was a really nice person and he was very interested in us and what we wanted to see an experience. I have been to Costa Rica several times an this was my second tour with Red Lava to the observatory lodge because i also enjoyed it so much the first time. I am really glad to have had such a nice guide with Enrique, because i know it's not self-evident everywhere in La Fortuna. Muchas gracias amigo!

The guide was great and very engaging. The hike was beautiful and gave an excellent view of the lake and the volcano. The thermal springs were fine but maybe aimed to an older audience if you have kids.

Very nice tour, our guide was lovely. Sadly we couldn’t get gold views of the volcano due to the weather but there were still other beautiful views throughout. We saw lots of wildlife and our guide was very knowledgeable. Brilliant day. Swimming was also fun.

We have done several tours in La Fortuna, which have all been outstanding, and this was the only trip that was disappointing and did not live up to our expectations. The trip wasn’t really as described, and seemed rushed. We were picked up from our hotel earlier than advertised, and were not ready, which wasn’t the best start to the afternoon. There was no water available for the hike so we had to ask to be dropped at a shop to buy some. The tour did not follow the advertised agenda. There was no coffee break. We were handed a takeaway coffee while looking round the museum. The museum was small but interesting, but we were rushed out before we had had a chance to read all the information. The hot springs were good, but we did not get the mud treatment that was advertised, and the free cocktail was some rum in a plastic cup topped up with Sprite. We were supposed to watch the sunset over the volcano from the observatory but this did not happen. Instead the tour was cut short by more than hours. On the plus side our tour guide was friendly and tried his best. I was also disappointed that the driver and guide did not wear face masks in the car. Not a bad tour, just so-so, and not as advertised.

The Tour in the Observatory Lodge with Carlos was amazing! The view from there to the Vulcano Arenal was stunning! We saw so many different birds, a antbear and also the red-eyed tree frog. Carlos was a really really great guide and he knows a lot about the animals and also the Vulcano Arenal. We recommend Red Lava Tours to everyone and specially Carlos 😉.

I enjoyed the hike and especially the opportunity to swim in a little pond underneath an impressive waterfall. My guide explained a lot about nature and animals and we saw monkeys, many birds and frogs. The end in the hot springs was very relaxing. On my request the tour was held in Spanish which was a great opportunity to practise my language skills.

Our tour guide, William, was incredible! He was so knowledgable and his personality and the way he presented information was great. We saw so many animals and learned so much! I thought this experience was a perfect balance of easy hiking (1-2 hours) and relaxing in the natural hot springs. Highly recommend this experience, especially with William.

Our group of 4 had Nano, Christian as our tour guide. We only knew what to expect by the description of the package but we were blown away with the views and our knowledgeable guide. Would highly recommend this tour. If we are lucky enough to return we will definitely request him again for another tour. 10 for 10. Don’t let this one pass you by!

Notre guide Waler etait excellent, expliquait bien et lentement, il parlait avec tout le monde. Il n était pressé, on avait le temps de tout faire a notre aise !!! Notre après etait tout simplement magnifique surtout la finale dans les bains thermal.
