Know More about this tour

Start your day with a port pickup from Ashdod Port, and then travel south to Jerusalem by air-conditioned coach, roughly two hours away. As you enter the city, stop to admire the views from the Mount of Olives, gazing out at the Dome of the Rock at Temple Mount Esplanade. Travel through Kidron Valley, past the monumental burial tombs at the Garden of Gethsemane where Jesus was said to have prayed before his crucifixion to the walls of the Armenian quarter of Jerusalems Old City.

Stretch your legs on a walk, ambling along the old Byzantine main road, and stop to admire the Western Wall, nicknamed the wailing wall after the worshipers who use it as an open-air synagogue. Soak up the atmosphere and continue through the Jewish quarter to the Christian quarter for a walk along the Via Dolorosa. The road was once an important pilgrimage route for Christian visitors, believed to mark the way to the site of Jesus crucifixion at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.

Enjoy a break for lunch (own expense), and then wander away from the Christian quarter to check out the Muslim bazaar, a bustling place where Hebron glass and Armenian pottery knickknacks are sold alongside spices and coffee. Browse the stalls with your guide, and then leave Jerusalem for your journey through the Judean Desert to the Dead Sea roughly an hour away.

Stop at the northern coast, and head inside one of the Dead Sea resorts to swim and float in the mineral-rich waters at leisure. Marking the lowest point on the face of the Earth, the impressive stretch of water is fed by a collection of incoming rivers that gush in to its land-locked shores. As the waters have nowhere to flow on to, they evaporate and leave behind a rich concentration of natural salt that attributes to the Dead Seas famous buoyancy.

After floating on the water and enjoying the therapeutic mud, meet your guide and return to Ashdod Port where your day trip finishes.

Original guide, Zohar, was awful. Unsafe driver, late pickup, got lost, disorganized, walked extremely slow, rude to other people, unfriendly...ugh. Contacted tour operator and they were great in quickly providing a replacement guide. Gil was outstanding to take over tour. Professional, informative, friendly, responsible, helpful, enjoyable. Touring with Gil highly recommended!

Our day with YOAV was wonderful! He is terrific and we learned so much from Him. A great representative of Viator! He went above and beyond to provide us with as much information as we could absorb - and more! We will return to Jersulaem again.

Jerusalem and Dead Sea is a lot of ground to cover from Ashdod. But we only had 2 days in Ashdod and wanted to cover Jerusalem and Dead Sea day 1, Tel Aviv day 2. So this worked out well. Our driver / guide picked us up at the dock in front of our ship. Meeting up was very convenient. Yael was a great guide. Very friendly and attentive. Old City Jerusalem is a lot of walking up and down hills, stairs, and narrow streets. In the heat, this was quite tiring. We ran into a major Jewish holiday, which made it super crowded. We covered the Jewish and Arab quarters. Walked the trail for Jesus' crucifixion. Dead Sea is a 45 min drive from Jerusalem through the Jordanian desert. It's fun to float around for 30 min. A surreal experience. But the super saline water stung my eyes and hurt my skin a bit. I left the water after about 30 min. We asked to be dropped off in Jerusalem around 6:30. We walked around the city for an hour. Then the tour company arranged for a taxi to take us back to Ashdod. It ended up being about an 11-12 hour day, but very memorable and worth it!

Ahmed was an awesome tour guide, grew up locally in Jerusalem, knew all the best viewing spots, stores and restaurants. His information sharing was very impressive and his conversations educational. Showed us the best route in Jerusalem to get maximum experience from our tour. Dead Sea was completely different from what we pictured. An amazing day, what an adventure.
